Final Fantasy Mystic Quest

Graphics 5 out of 10
The graphics are nothing amazing even when you compare them to the games released
in 1992. They are small and squished but do get the job done. It is simple to tell all
the items apart and while the towns look similar, they have a distinct feature to
tell them apart. The fight scenes are well illustrated but nothing amazing. They are
very average, easy on the eyes but you probably won't remember anything particular
Music and Sound 5 out of 10
Like the graphics, the music is average. It is not a rich as the other Final Fantasy
games, but considering how short the game is, you won't mind the fact it is repetitive.
Sound effects are there but they are strictly by the books. They are not much better
than a good NES game.
Game Challenge 4 out of 10
I do play a fair amount of RPG's but even a beginner should have very little trouble
finishing the game. The story and paths are linear so you can not get lost. Most of
the functions are handled automatically so you do not have to worry about money,
equipment or healing yourself. As long as you pay attention, doing the quests should
not take more than 2 tries. I finished the game after 2 days, that's was about 8 hours
of gameplay. An inexperienced player should finish in 15 hours.
Game Play-Fun 8 out of 10
Despite the fact it is very easy, the story that Final Fantasy games are known for
is still there. It was a lot of fun going through the lands and talking to all the people.
You can not help feeling some pride when you finish the game.
There are no frustrations. The bosses are easy and the quests linear. There are few
places to become stuck while playing and if you are, it should not take too long to
get out of.
Replayability 2 out of 10
Because it is so linear, it is hard to recommend replaying it. There is nothing extra to
find, the story stays the same and nothing to explore off the beaten path.
Game Value 4 out of 10
Great for someone who has never played a RPG. It gives you the feel of one without
all the complex stuff. I would advise buying used and never paying more that $15.00
for it. Otherwise the game is over to soon and you wonder what you spent all the money for.
Overall 50 out of 100
I simply can not give this game more than an average rating. It is fun to play through
but is over way to soon and has no replay value. Rent it, finish it, and move on to
Final Fantasy 2 or 3.
