Slam City with Scottie Pippen

Reviewed by Dyson Turner Slam City with Scottie Pippen was mega ultra fun when I first played it, then after a few hours it just got well... boring. The graphics were great the basketball sounds were great also. It just wasn't that much fun after a few plays through. Story What story? You're just a regular street baller, playing against the local competition, so you can get enough respect to play against Pippen. Graphics Full Motion Video played through out the game, first person it did give the feel that you were playing on a real basketball court. Nailing jumpers in the face of the opposition couldn't look better after the first 50 million times you see it. Seeing the opponent jam on 10 thousand times looks cool a few times. Then it's boring. The graphics were great but reused video gets tiresome. Sound The sound was pretty good too. There is a nice song during the intro of the game, and mostly you hear the pounding of the pavement, and the ball bouncing. You do get some trash talking, I'm not sure that you could do it, but this gets tiresome as well, just like the graphics. Repetitiveness sets in just like the graphics does. Game Play This game is for 1 player only. You are a street chump trying to get your chance at Pippen. You earn Respect Points by doing blocks, and stealing the ball. You lose them by the opponent doing this to you. Not only are the graphics repetitive the controls stink. Besides the fact of no cross over, even Tim bug's UTEP 2 Step would have been nice. You get nothing instead you can fake people by moving right then quickly going left, it's just not the same as using a cross over on a guy and seeing them stumble or fall, now that would have been cool. It's hard even to do a fake, since the controls are lousy, because of the FMV the controls seem to be slow, when you try to do a fake it won't show up on the screen, then your opponent will rip the ball. It is very hard to dunk as well, come within 2 feet of the basket your getting your shot Mutumboed i. e. blocked. You try the same thing to the opponent, they slam in your face like Shaq. Most opponents do tend to be easy after a while, if you eventually get to Pippen, your not beating him his jumper is unstoppable. The difficulty without Pippen is Easy, with him Pippen Hard. Overall 6 out of 10 This game has great graphics and sound. But the game isn't fun it will be for the first 10 minutes, but I can't review the first 10 minutes of the game. The replay value is low, to replay it you have to beat it, which I certainly think most won't do. This game appears to be incomplete I think the addition of a cross over, spin, or even a head fake would have helped you out considerably. None of these really destroyed the controls. The game just isn't fun. Unless you are a huge Pippen fan or you must have every B-Ball Sim none to man then get this over wise, get a NBA sim.
