Virtua Fighter
Reviewed by Dyson Turner
Virtua Fighter for 32X came as a shock to me. Up to this
point I didn't give the 32X its respect because they have
been cranking SNES like games. Until this one game came out
to show the the 32X had power. I might not have been as good
as its Saturn counterpart but it was pretty good in its on right.
Graphics 7. 5/10
The graphics were pretty good. The sprites were a reasonable
size and pretty much like the Saturn version. The only
difference may be the polygon count on this is extremly
high. The characters are rounded like the arcade, but they
still look reasonable.
Sound 7. 0/10
The music is pretty good, the sound FX come off great. I
really like Lau's music, and Akira's . The opening intro is
pretty good and sounds authentic. The sound department was
great and really helped the game a lot.
Game Play 8. 5/10
This game was for 1 or 2 players. All 8 charcters were here
and Dural was the last character. The arcade secrets were
here as well. You had Arcade mode and regular vs. mode too.
Most of the Arcade combos like Lau's punch, punch, kick made
the transport. Some other combos were altered and missing
all together. Ring Out's were easier here than in the
arcades which I hated it made for too many easy wins. The
difficulty was adjustable, but most of the times you can
ring out people. Even on the hardest difficulty is doesn't
compare to the difficulty of the arcade.
Overall 8 out of 10
This game was pretty good with a few missing elements really
don't hurt the game that bad. Any VF fan will like this game
too, even though it probably is the worst VF I conversion.
If this game had all the arcade combos, and tougher A. I. it
would of been much better. Well you can't have everything.
VF completist don't miss out on this one.
