Rating: - Don't believe it's import capabilities.
I purchased this software from Sam's Club for about $20... not a huge loss of money. I have been looking for something that will allow me to import recipes I have saved over the years from many web sites. The container box regarding imports states: "The Recipe Manager allows you to import recipes from almost anywhere, including your current MasterCook collection or your favorite website."
Well, after installing it, I found it doesn't like Word or WordPerfect documents, nor Open Text. So I went to the help feature... and here is what it states: "Currently we import MasterCook .mxp and .mx2 formats. Any application that exports recipes in either of those two formats will be readable by TheRecipeManager."
I can't vouch for any other possible features it may have. My main purpose in buying this product was to be able to import files that I couldn't in MasterCook.
Rating: - Very disappointing - would not recommend at all!
I requested this software for Christmas and was excited to be able to get my recipes (downloaded or my own creations) shopping lists and weekly menus in one electronic area (I have been using Excel)....boy, was I disappointed!! The software was terrible to install due to a known issue with Vista. Once I was "in" the software, I discovered that although the software description says you can create shopping lists and menus, they fail to mention that you can only create menus from existing recipes - what cook does everything from a recipe everytime! The shopping list is incredibly cumbersome and worthless - basically, we have wasted $40.00. The software is okay at importing recipes from websites but there is a still a fair amount of tweaking to be done when imported and the nutritional information is horrible to use.
I did contact Customer Service regarding the menu creation issue and they did respond quickly but you can only use email to contact them - no phone support!
Overall, I had to give this one star - the first time I have ever given such a low rating to anything I have purchased on Amazon.

Rating: - Not As Good As Advertised
The Recipe Manager was very difficult to install (Vista) - not for the beginner! Once installed, software was not at all intuitive to use. Very buggy, never did get it to save, so time spent typing in first recipe was wasted. Finally gave up and wrote it off as a loss. Very disappointed.
Rating: - Almost perfect
I had a little difficulty getting this software to work with Vista -- had to work through some issues with permissions, latest versions, and screen resolution. But the customer support was very helpful. The software has all the features that I was looking for including an excellent search capability and easy-to-use recipe resizing. One little nit -- There is a feature which allows you to enter the prep and cooking time but the software does not calculate the total time -- you have to do that yourself.
