At the beginning of any given level, three blocks arranged in a triangle
will drift by just after the start of the level. If you crash your ship
into the middle one, its guns will immediately be fully powered-up for
some odd reason (you usually have to grab four yellow orbs to do this).

Know your weapons: Weapons in Zanac show on screen as floating
numbers. Your weapon will upgrade if you pick the same number
several times. Except for weapon 2, all others upgrade to do very
powerful stuff. For example, if you pick weapon 5 many times your
ship will get a laser cannon which is one of the most powerful weapons
in the game.

Very often you will see blue squares floating around which if shot
releases yellow coins. If you pick a lot of them without being killed
(and I mean a lot) your standard gun will upgrade to a big three shot cannon!

If you want to win the game easy, upgrade weapon 7 to its max. Your
ship will throw a big blast wave which covers about 2/5 of the screen!

There are pillars spread throughout the levels which if shot several
times will release an energy ball that if your ship touches it destroys
all enemies on the screen. However, there are special pillars with happy
faces carved on them which can be shot for other effects. Some will
release a energy ball that if you leave alone for a few seconds it will
become hollow. Touch it and you'll be able to warp! Every stage has one.
Be careful though, some hollow energy balls warp you BACK instead
of forward.

Somewhere at the beginning of Stage 2, there is a small square plate that
if you shoot will free a fairy. The fairy will accompany you to the first
enemy base and will destroy it for you automatically.

Turn the game on. Press reset 13-14 times and move the d-pad. Look
on the top left corner where it says area. You will be able
to change its number!
