Shadowgate 64: Trials of the Four Towers

Get the game at Amazon.com!

Reviewed by Jesse Hughes I have been waiting for this game for a long time, and it was certainly worth the wait. This game is a fantasy RPG that uses lots of strategy and is possibly one of the most hardest Nintendo 64 games ever created. I beat it the first week I purchased it but that was only because I played it 24/7 and I always had to call game counselors all the time. You play the game as a young halfling named Del. Here is some more info...

Graphics 7.5 out of 10

In this game the main element is strategy and depth. The graphics were fairly original and not too mouth gaping. This is one of the only minuses about this game. I do wish that the graphics were a little better, then the game would have been perfect. But nothing is perfect is it?

Music and Sound 8.0 out of 10

Some of the music is rather nerve-racking but the overall sound effects and music are kind of cool. Some of the music is repetitious but it is catchy, you will probably end up whistling all the tunes as you play this addictive game.

Game Challenge 9.6 out of 10

As I said, this is possibly one of the most challenging games for the Nintendo 64. You will find yourself frustrated at some points of the game, but just keep trying...you will get through it. But some of the puzzles seem unbalanced, they are either hair-pulling hard or mouth-agape duh.

Game Play-Fun 9.0 out of 10

This game may be challenging and frustrating but overall, it is a very fun game. You will find yourself glued and addicted to this game. And once you beat it...you will do it again, over and over until you beat it so many times your eyeballs will come out of their sockets.

Frustration

This game is not overly frustrating but you will find yourself mad at mad at some points in the game. I'm really not sure if Shadowgate 64 has a strategy guide but it sure could use one. The game does have a map if you get really stuck, but I never had to use it.

Replayability 9.0 out of 10

As I said, you will find yourself playing it over and over again. If you do happen to get bored you could always try to get the best time possible. But I've beaten it 5 times and I'm still not tired of it, so you shouldn't either.

Game Value 9.5 out of 10

This game is certainly worth the price. It's got everything you would want: depth, strategy, difficulty...everything. If you are getting a game that will last you a long time, get Shadowgate 64. you will not wanted to take your eyes off of the screen.

Overall 9.3 out of 10
