Once you have passed the game, if you have not gotten all the pieces of 
the map you pass the game with nothing except for scrooge saying "at 
least I have my family". But if you get all the pieces of the map he lift's 
up his hat to reveal a large jewel. In the background a ship is sinking 
with all the other treasures in it.
