I have to agree with everyone here. The new PES for the Wii is really great. The controls take a few minutes to get used to but the point and click interface is so fluid and makes control of the ball so much better than soccer games before it. Ball physics, as always, are still outstanding in PES.
Defense is the only downside but after you get the feel for how this works, it is tolerable especially in the face of such an incredibly new way of playing offense.
Online play was oddly glitchy and jumpy but it could have just been my Internet connection. I'm still exploring how these settings can be tweaked in the game to optimize online performance.
This game is definitely worth buying for anyone wanting to experience a truly great new way to play soccer on the Wii. Very, VERY nice!

Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 for the Wii is the best football game ever made. There is no doubts regarding that, despite the game shows some flaws. Graphics are average, at best, and it definitely lacks more leagues and teams. However, gaming is all about gameplay and I can't have a better football game in your couch without it. Unlike other football games, you can actually control the tactics used by your team. Off ball running, offside trap, and many other intricate tactics are available in a very intuitive control scheme. Unlike other franchises, Konami is really getting football games in to a higher level of development. Once you try it, there is no way you can return to the older scheme.

This is a Great game for young and old people. I am only 11, but i enjoy soccer A LOT!!! Soccer is my favorite sport and this is easily one of the best soccer games i've played. I just think they need teams like Manchester United. Overall i give a A- for a grade.

Most of the other reviews have focused on the innovative use of the Wii controllers and how much fun the game is - and these are all true.
As a parent, we were concerned about how complex the game might be as we were giving it to my son for his 9th birthday. It turns out basic game play is pretty simple and you can have a lot of fun just knowing the basic controls. You will be playing and having fun in 5 minutes or less.
However, there are layers of sophistication here. My son has been studying the user manual and using the training modes, and his play has improved quite a bit. It will be tough keeping up with him.
As a learning tool, the game does a great job teaching insight to soccer strategy for my son (who plays travel soccer).
Note that the game is a little too complicated for my 6 year old child, so I would recommend this game for anyone 8 years and older.

What a great game -- I just got it yesterday and spent way too much time last night trying to get all the nuances down. I don't really care about graphics, I care about fun -- and this game is FUN!
Besides being fun, it is the most tactically correct soccer game I have ever encountered. Figuring out where to place players for runs into the box, perfecting give and go passes, etc. -- it is all there! If you are a soccer (football) fan, go buy this game!!!
