I read lots of reviews before I pick up a game and this was no exception. Okami is a port from the original PS2 version and there really haven't been any additions as far as content goes since then. However, this game is monsterously long and is in no need of additional content. It's a beautiful game that is very stylised; it has more or less drawn or painted graphics and this sets the game apart from anything else previous to it. The Wii version of the game has one draw back however, one control of one fairly insignificant ability is works 25% of the time at best. It's not required to even get this ability in the game but it would be nice to have. Everything else is superior to the PS2 version in my opinion. This is a great game reguardless of which edition you get but Wii has my vote. If you enjoy games like Zelda this you'll enjoy this game.

I am not usually an adventure gamer...I am a huge fan of Maxis-type games (Sim City, The Sims) and Mario-style platformers where the violence consists of natural disasters or bopping enemies on the head. Even in Mario Galaxy, I generally hand the controller off to my boyfriend when there is a boss level, and he defeats Bowser, so I can move on. Okami takes bosses and battles and makes them FUN!
I heard great things about the PS2 Okami, so when it came out for Wii, I thought I would give it a try...Now I am immersed in the beautiful adventure game. Last night I had a blast defeating an eight-headed monster, and I was thrilled to find out the game has so much more to it. I can't believe one of the reviewers complained at the length of the game...it should just tell you - don't rent it, buy it!
The Wii controls are fantastic...I admit the painting styles and the melee attacks took some getting used to. I had some frustration with the "power-slash" at the beginning of the game, but as it is probably the most common brush stroke for later battles, I was glad to have plenty of practice! The camera angles can be a bit goofy, but can easily and quickly be corrected, even during intense battles.
I'm sure to some gamers, this plot will be a little too deep, the graphics too much like a watercolor...but to me, this made the game much more compelling.
Highly recommended!

Had a lot of fun with this. Highly recommended, great dialog, lots of care was taken in making the interactions with other characters and the environment entertaining. Beautifully rendered. Would recommend most for Legend of Zelda fans, people who like a good story+characters, and interesting artwork. Not recommended for people who like voice-acting, of which this game has none. Also, not a very challenging game (I could say the same for the recent Zelda games, though.)

First off, I believe this is the same 'game play' as the PS2 version. However, the controls are done perfectly for the Wii. To call it a port is not doing this version of Okami justice.
It is a gorgeous game where you, as a japanese god in the form of a wolf/dog, are bringing beauty and life back to feudal Japan after a demon was set loose and mucked everything up. If you are familiar with the shinto pantheon, many of the names and characters will be familiar.
The game play is reminiscent of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and if you enjoy Zelda games, this is definitely the game to pick up, especially at this price.

When trying to describe the game Okami, several words come to mind....Delightful....Charming....Lovely....Interesting. I guess what I'm trying to say, is that "fun" and "cool" simply don't seem to cut-it even though those words easily apply as well. I won't go into plot and storyline since many of the other reviews have done an excellent job in detailing. Instead I'd like to tell you why I feel Okami is a must-have game. For those gamers like me who love puzzle and adventure games, Okami is a feast for the soul! Beautiful graphics, charming and witty characters, and plenty of difficult quests to accomplish plus awesome use of the Wii Remote-- This is what you get right from the start. And just when you think the game can't top itself, something mind-blowing happens--Something so unique and imaginative....well....words just fail to describe it. To compare Okami with other games out there is like comparing a fast-food meal off the dollar menu with a three-course meal at a gourmet restaurant. Except that with Okami, you aren't going to pay "gourmet" price because unlike other games, Okami is a great value! Basically, what it all comes down to is that Okami is extremely satisfying in pretty much every way....and if you STILL don't believe me, there's nothing else I can say except-- Give it a try! I promise, you will not be sorry.
