Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Hugh Improvement over criminal origins
I requested for this game from my girlfriend for Christmas, having finally finshed part one about a week prior. I have to say I am very impressed with this follow up, the developers practically address all issues that needed to be fixed from crimial origins.

As other reviewers have stated, the gameplay controls have been adjusted enough to surpass the previous gameplay control, and in my opinion the graphics have definitely been polished. I noticed framerate has been improved, and the overall feel of the game is a little scarier than the first title.

I really enjoy the new forensics aspect, unlike the first game where you were automatically given which tool to use. You now have to use your own judgement to figure out what happened to victims and what took place at crime scenes. On this note, your overall score at the end of the level will be based upon your decisions you make throughout each level.

I'm very happy that I received this game, it's definitely worth the buck, even more so now that you can pick it up used at gamestop for $17.99. If you enjoyed playing the first condemened, you will absolutely appreciate this one. Go get it!

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Still creepy and good, but too many annoying problems
Condemned 2 picks up a fair length of time after the last. You now play drunken, disgruntled, former Agent Thomas, called back into service to help investigate the new recent wave of crime. The metal mouths from the previous game make another appearance, and Thomas's hallucinations are well worth the purchase price, especially now that its in holiday cut downs. The storyline is far more bizarre than the previous game, as surprising as that sounds, but I won't include spoilers.

Fans of the first will continue to love the game. Forensics has been improved, though some detail is harder then necessary to spot. Combat has been improved slightly, and there are now caches of ammo rather than five bullets per weapon. The atmosphere is as dark and creepy as ever, and you'll find yourself jumping or bracing to jump often.

Ubisoft continues to be one of those rare companies that can actually listen to its fans, and not tell them to go pound sand. Levels are broken into blessed stages finally, meaning you can replay your favorite segments to improve your score in each. Each stage has its own reward, and Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels still apply, but rather than finding a piece of scarp tucked behind a soda machine, you're now looking for things that matter: blowing up meth labs and listening to TV and radio reports to help flesh out the backstory. Dead birds are no longer a quest object, but a hint that there's something important nearby. Your rewards as far as I'm aware are all static, and can help tremendously with later replay.

The problems, and sadly, there are quite a lot of them, are with the gameplay itself. You're not still smart enough to keep spare bullets in your pockets, heaven forbid a spare clip, but enemies are walking armories, so waiting for them to run out of ammo is a fools errand. Collision detection glitches allow you to be hit through walls, and certain enemies can apparently see you through them. Respawn points appear everywhere and are patently ridiculous and far too hard to overcome. Enemies sometimes are as fast as Agents from the Matrix, whereas you are still a one-two puncher. Due to several of these problems, you'll have to reload, and reload a lot. Far too often for a game on Normal difficulty.

In short, C2 managed to improve tremendously, yet managed to hold onto enough of the frustration to sour a large part of the experience. Get the game for the story, and don't waste you're time trying to play through in on harder than Easy, as its all pain for no gain. And brace yourself for the ending, as I'm still trying to understand it, and many people I'm certain will hate it.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Great Game
This game is a lot of fun to play. It has a very strong multiplayer and a great single player. The game is also very scary, but that just adds to the greatness of it.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Awesome game
visceral fighting and great story continues from the original game. this time the framerate is perfectly solid throughout the entire game, and the MULTIPLAYER IS SICK! as of 9/19/08 a lot of people still play online. while theyre is noob mode deathmatch / team dm, CSI mode is really strategic and fun for experienced players and never gets old. get this game!
