Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Kick Out The Jams!
My 11yr.old daughter received Rock Band for Xmas and has played almost non stop. During the Xmas shopping rush all I could get was the guitar and she and her freinds are jamming to some great classic rock tunes. I plan on getting the mic and drums for her soon. This game is a great influence for appreciating some great tunes from the Rock genre (please don't come out with a Rap Band). Not only a great one for the kids but also for all you adults who act like Pete Townshend when your alone and have it turned up to "11" !

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Bought the ps2 (game only) and I Love IT!!!
This game is awesome. I can't stop playing. All I had was two Guitar hero guitars and a usb mic from a karaoke game and it works like a champ. Alot of the songs have replay value. I've heard that the ps3 drums work with the ps2 version so I can't wait to pick up that to complete the band and we're rolling!!!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - great game
this is a great game. When I first got it, i thought i would never use the microphone, but it was suprisingly fun. The drums take some time to learn, but those are really fun. If you buy the Rock band Special Edition, it come with drums, a mic, and a guitar. The strum is very different from guitar hero's, but you get used to it. I suggest that you buy the special edition, or just get guitar hero 3.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Rock Harder
When it has came to rhythm games, no one system has thrived for the most like the Playstation 2. With music games like Singstar, Dance Dance Revolution and the successful Guitar Hero franchise, this system has delivered the most in ways we really do want to rock out loud. But, with gamers eagerly awaiting for more games for the Playstation 3, gamers want to still find a way to amaze what is still left from the Playstation 2. Rock Band had thrived well for the Xbox 360 and PS3 in making the multiplayer action shine brightly, but with it finally being issued for the PS2, does it actually have the itch to shine as well with jamming with the new video game boys?

Rock Band For the Playstation 2, brings the rhythm-based play of what we had seen and thrived with Guitar Hero, and taken it to a new level. The gameplay this time, brings in a bit more action with adding drums, bass guitar and vocals from the microphone with added excitement. The gameplay though add in a better list of songs than what we've seen with Guitar Hero III: Encore, by bringing in great songs from classic artists like Bon Jovi's anthem Wanted Dead Or Alive, the Foo Fighters hit Learn To Fly, which had that hilarious video on the airplane, the Red Hot Chili Peppers recent hit Dani California, and Metallica's Enter Sandman. The graphics for the game are well-rendered and the gameplay is addictive, for anyone in the household. Sadly though, there are a few disadvantages with the Playstation 2 edition that are here that aren't in the other ones. The first problem is that there is no online gaming. Although you can download songs, you just can't go head-to head with others, the way the Xbox 360 and the PS3 have made out.

Still, despite a few flaws Rock Band is still a great game for the Playstation 2, and takes on the excitement of Guitar Hero, and brings it out a whole lot further. It is definitely a great party game, and has a much better compilation of great songs, but I just wish it could've had a bit more than what we've already seen from this and Guitar Hero for the PS2 before.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Best guitar game since Guitar Hero 1.
If you enjoyed Guitar Hero I and were let down by GH2, Rock the 80s and GH3's song list, buy this game now! With songs that people other than "stoners" listen to, how could this game not be a smashing success? I was told by a guy at Game Crazy that this is less fun to play by yourself than Guitar Hero is, but I disagree with that assessment as well. It is quite fun and in some ways more difficult than Guitar Hero. Try it, you'll like it! I can confirm also that GH guitars work perfectly.
