I love the idea of using these gun peripherals, but they have yet to come through as fully thought out products. They don't accommodate for rechargeable batteries. Quick solution - remove the battery cover. Kind of clunky design. Also, I don't much enjoy the wrapped up cable idea. Every time I have cables wrapped up as tight as they are, the cables become dysfunctional.
The game it comes with is terrible. Link Crossbow training was the most awkwardly controlled game I've played since GTA2. Thankfully it was no extra charge - but you get what you pay for.
Some people don't like holding it machine gun style, and it seems more comfortable to hold it at the hip level and shoot that way. With one of the pistols, it is easier to hold up for longer periods and shoot away. Fatigue really sets in after about an hour or two.
All in all it isn't half bad, but it isn't half good either. Simply put: If you need one then go ahead and get this one. If you can wait, then wait until somebody finally makes a good, intelligently designed gun peripheral. Besides, there aren't many good shoot 'em up games for the Wii right now. Just House of the Dead 2+3 (outdated), Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles, and Ghost Squad (repetitive). Wait and see if there will be more games that will utilize these peripherals and whether they are worth it.

This can be an addictive game; especially if you play it with friends.
Basically you do shooting quests for points to earn medals. The person with the highest score gets their Mii showcased on the level so there is a consent battle to knock each other off the first place spot.
It's just point and shoot so anyone can play this game.

Do you remember the gun on NES? Did you love shooting the ducks (and the laughing dog) on the original duck hunt game? I did, and the Wii Zapper, like the gun before it, makes shooting games more fun.
Link's Crossbow training which is supposedly just a demo for the Zapper is actually fun, and is a good trial for Zelda, which my husband and I had been on the fence about buying. The Zapper can also be used with other games, like Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles, which my husband swears is more realistic and fun with the Zapper.
If you like peripherals (I do) then get the Zapper, but if you're more comfortable with a joystick, then you should probably just stick with the nunchuk/wiimote setup. But I definately think the Zapper is worth it, and a lot of fun.

The Link Crossbow training is rather fun and makes me want the new Zelda game(haven't played one since the Super Nintendo).
Bottom line: If you want to play a shooter on the Wii you need this
Otherwise you are aiming with the Wii-mote with only one hand and thus less stability. This device turns the Wii-mote and the nunchuk into something akin to a Romulan Disrupter Rifle(for those who have seen alot of Star Trek) and the front part is more gun-shaped. The accuracy is great and for some games(like house of the dead) you can play throughout the whole thing only needing to push something other than the trigger once or twice.
