Rock Band is so awesome. I recommend getting it to anyone. When you're playing it you don't think about anything else, it's just so much fun.

I've never been into video games. In fact, their appeal has completely bypassed me my entire life. However, once I picked up the guitar to give Guitar Hero III a shot, I was hooked. Within weeks I had mastered all of the songs on medium and needed a new challenge, and so my son suggested that we get Rock Band.
Although the guitar is easier on Rock Band, I like the fact that four people can play at a time. There are options for one bass player, one guitar player, one singer, and one drummer. Within each instrument you can adjust the level of difficulty. As your band progresses through concerts you earn money which can be exchanged for more fashionable clothing styles.
I love the fact that you can name your band, your players, and even customize your appearance to really reflect the tastes of each player. Also, when playing as a band each band member can individually adjust their level of difficulty, which makes it easy to play with a group of mixed abilities. Not only do we play this as a family, but my kids have people over to play as well.
The microphone, wired guitar, and drum set comes with this set. The Guitar Hero wireless guitar is also compatible with this system, and either guitar can be played as a bass guitar.
Buying this on Amazon also saved me over $[...] and it was delivered to my home in just a few days.

Simply put: This is the best party/multiplayer game. It's fun for beginners, it's fun for "experts," it's fun for everyone. As a lead guitarist for an indie band and before I played Rock Band, I thought this game seemed so lame. But when you get a group of people together to rock out or have a "battle of the bands" party, you will have fun for hours. The movement of the guitar and bass parts are relatively similar to how you would play the songs on a real guitar or bass. Even the drum parts on hard or expert mimic actual drum-playing. The only problem is the cheap drum pedal. However, you can solve that with this website:

Anyway, a great buy and investment. New songs are available for purchase/download every week. I have added about 20 songs to my setlist, and the game stays fun. It has even made me appreciate even more some classic rock hits that I don't listen to anymore or that I've never heard of. Buy it -- you won't regret it.

Great game, great songs, great features. Oh, and also new songs every week. There's currently twice as many downloadable songs available then on the disc. The game never gets old.

My sons and I play almost everyday. They are always trying to get me to play video games and I had no interest until "Rock Band". It is funnnnn.
