This is a great accessory especially for XBOX Live on Tom Clancys Rainbow SIx Vegas. You can take a photo of your self and put it onto your in game character and when you go online with other people you can actually see their real face and what there saying through the headset will act through the face. It's awsome and you have to see it to beleive it. Plus when you do this in rainbow six you automatically get 10 acheivement points. Although I do think 39.99 is little expensive. 24.99 sound good!

Now that Rainbow 6 Vegas has been released for the 360 the real reason to own this camera is here. This game, and hopefully more and more games in the future allows you to take a straight on, and a profile picture of yourself that the game uses as a texture to wrap around the head of your in game character!!!!!
When using muliplayer online players can see your face on the in game character and when you talk into the mic your character's lips move in fairly close sync, literally putting you right into the game!
Some people have complained that it is hard to get a good quality picture of themselves onto the character, but like everything else in life you get out what you put in to it. You should use good, even diffuse lighting, eliminating all shadows and hot spots from the camera's view, Also take the picture against an all white background so that it can easily extrapolate your head from the image. I thought these were common sense steps to take, but I guess it didn't occur to quite a few people to do. I was concerned because I have a beard/mustache and I was worried that might be problematic for the game to create a realistic texture with that. But since I did take the necessary steps for even lighting, and I used a large piece of foam core board as a backdrop to easily distinguish and the result is that my in game character looks amazing. Heck he looks better than I do!
If you like games like Rainbow 6 then this is a must buy for customization, in the future more and mroe games will adopt this feature and I can't wait!
Product only gets 4 starts instead of 5 because it would be nice to have alot more games use this feature, as time goes on this should be less of a problem though.

Ok i bought this camera more for the reason of putting my own picture as my profile picture. I love it! It comes with uno which is tons of fun playing with other people and talking and watching them. The fun factor is worth 5 stars! However overall I give it 4 because Totem Ball is really hard and not that fun, and you take multiple pictures and store them. Maybe one day they will have a program or a patch that you can save more than one picture onto your hard drive. Other than that it is worth 40 dollars. One of the best features is that you can have a private chat with your friends. This will really come in handy especially since I just moved to the other side of the country and I am about to have my first child with my wife, now my family will be able to watch the baby in beautiful hd for free! I can't wait til they make more games that can use the camera. Uno is fun but gets boring after a while.

I just got this mostly for it's video chat & webcam ability. Other than this all I have is a polaroid camera collecting dust, so the xbox vision really helps when I want new pictures today. The video feature is a easy to use with windows movie maker, you'll have new photo & videos for youtube and myspace with audio in less than a half hour when you learn how to use it.Works with a microphone headset or a mic, and actually it comes with a headset but you'll need a separate headset for pc, I use logitech. Overall I recommend it & say it's a best buy. Read the booklet provided for setup instructions.

I bought this camera on an impulse. Here are my thoughts:
Right now, I'd say it's not worth a whole lot. As of October 9, 2006, it only has three functions. You can use it on Uno, Totemball, Billiard Games and for video chat with friends on Xbox Live. Additionally, you plug it up into your Windows PC and use it as a web cam.
However, if you're getting this for your Xbox360 (which you probably are), I say wait until there's a good reason to buy it. Totemball is an absolutely terrible game, and unless you want to people to see you while you're playing Uno, there's not much point in getting it yet.
I say hold off until it's functional with a few more games before rushing out and getting it. It's definitely nice to have, and anyone wanting to get the most out of their 360 should check it out, but it's just not too important just yet.
EDIT: As of June 2007, the camera is functional with a few titles. The most notable is Command and Conquer 3, in which you can view your opponent's face when you obliterate their army. It is a nice touch to the game. Still not entirely necessary for the Xbox 360, but nice to have nonetheless.
