Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - 3.5 if they'd let me do it.
When you first start playing this game, it's great. Then, as you play longer, there are tiny little things that bug you more and more.

First off, there is a weird rule where if you score a touchdown in the final seconds of play, you don't get a PAT kick, no matter what. I could see this being a HUGE problem in a close game. Score's 14-7, time's running out, losing team gets an interception and runs it in for a score as the clock hits 0.00... and the final score is 14-13, they lose.

Second, there is no good difficulty level. The easiest is WAY too easy, and the normal one is WAY too hard. Example: In legacy mode, as Florida State (my alma mater, whose fight song is inexplicably not in the game), I beat San Jose State 106-3 in easy mode. That season I kept it on easy mode and had several 100-point games. I never scored less than 50 points in a game. Next season, I decided to kick up the difficulty to normal, because winning in 110-0 shutouts every week isn't fun. Next season SJSU *BEATS ME* 19-3. I blew out this team by over 100 points, and next season (where I had a BETTER team than the one before) they beat me soundly. The computer backs play perfect defense, and somehow manage to have all your recievers triple-covered at all times. Your guys are SLOWER than the computer's, all the time, no matter what. This is on normal difficulty; on easy you can't miss a catch, you can put kickoffs through the uprights every single time, and you can run fast enough to return virtually every punt for a touchdown. On normal difficulty, every game has scores below 20. On easy, every game is a 100-0 shutout. One touchdown was scored against me ALL SEASON.

Thirdly, legacy mode is seriously screwed up. You play the same teams, every year, and they're not even good teams. As Florida State, I didn't play Florida OR Miami, but I played Ohio State, who to my knowledge we have never played ever in the history of football. I wouldn't mind this if you played different teams every year, but you're stuck with these stupid schedules.

Not that I'm saying this game's not fun. It's a blast. Until you figure out how to demolish the easy-mode AI, then it's marginally fun blowing out teams by 100 points for a season or so. Then it's just tedious. But as a cheap Dreamcast game (is there any other kind?) it's worth the money. You'd be hard pressed to find a better NCAA football game.

I haven't played 2 player mode yet, but I'd guess it would be fun, since there would be no cheating computer to go up against. Then again, against human opponents certain plays (the option for instance) would be overpowered. If the opponent doesn't blitz you (or if they're not magnetic and weigh 500 pounds apiece, like the computer's DL) the option is a guaranteed first down. (The option plays are screwed up, somehow, as well... it doesn't feel like you have very many options at all when you run it.)

I nitpick this game, but that's really the only way to find flaws in it. They're big enough, though, to bug serious NCAA football fans, especially if your favorite team's fight song isn't included.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Not good enough to be revolutionary
As a big fan of college football, I was very pleased to hear a game would be coming out for the Dreamcast but as I played I found more and more that I did not like. For example, on the legacy mode I just happend to go undefeated and win the national championship and did not have many good players graduating and started the next season ranked 81st. What is up with that? The announcers also annoy me and get many things mixed up. With their bad jokes like "Brittney Spoons", I suggest you turn the volume down and listen to music or the something. The recruiting is not that good either, I have seen alot of other reviews saying that the only athletes that want to come to your school are kickers, punters, and centers well they are right. They play only about 2 or 3 fight songs mostly Notre Dame's fight song like it somehow happend to come up during a Florida - Tennessee game. It would of been nice also if they could of had the players names but if you know enough about your favorite team you will know them buy their numbers. So in the end if you really like college football and do not care about the little things or the corny announcing than this game is for you, but if you like pure stats and good recruiting than I would not recommend it

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Computer the mighty impossible.
I like this game. It's good overall. The computer settings are to different. The 1st setting is easy. 2nd Hard and I haven't even touched the 3rd one yet. Overall I still say it's a good buy. I mean any game college is good becqause they're few and far between.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Closet college game you'll get to real life.
Imagine all your favorite college teams, on a system thars 3d with 128 bit graphics, and on top of that if your a college football fan. Look no further than this game, trust me i own it.
