Mike Tyson's Punch-Out is the best boxing game ever created. Period. Sure, there are fun titles out now with gorgeous graphics (Fight Night), but the gameplay cannot be beat here. The controls are simple: you move side to side with the left and right buttons on the directional pad, duck with the down button, and A and B are for right and left jabs respectively (hold up with these to perform uppercuts).
The game consists of you, Little Mac, as you make your way through 3 divisions until you finally earn the right to face Tyson himself. The fighters in this game range from rediculously easy to very difficult to beat. But it is all about patterns. Once you learn the fighter's techniques, get your reflexes down, and beat them you are that much closer to fighting Mike Tyson. This is where it is almost rediculously hard, as he is no joke! It takes serious practice and concentration before you will be able to defeat him. Even Mr. Sandman and Macho Man before him are difficult for a while. Bottom line is, this is still one of the most difficult games to beat after more than 20 years. It is one of those must-own games for NES owners and I highly recommend it. It is one of the most fun games in my own collection.

Man, talk about games that are REALLY difficult to complete. Tyson doesn't mess around. You need to have almost flawless reflexes to beat him. That aside though, this is a game everybody should play at least once. Anybody can beat Glass Joe just by pressing buttons; the guy is a punching bag. It's rare that you see a game that's so easy for beginners to start but so difficult for seasoned veterans to complete. It's a game anybody can play for a long time.
The characters are great. They're fun to beat up, and it's tough to take a loss from any of them since they're such showboats. Even though I haven't played the game in a while, I'm convinced that if you put a controller in my hand right now and put me against the Great Tiger, that man would take a beating. Some of those guys I've beaten up BAD, but I've gotten slaughtered by Super Macho Man more times than I care to remember.

Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! simply put is the greatest boxing video game ever created. So simplistic, yet so satisfying to play, the game commands your attention from the opening bell. The graphics were pretty great considering the time period and the gameplay is flawless. I'm now 31 years old and can honestly say that this game easily outclasses all of the other boxing games created since. The game is challenging but not too hard, I beat Tyson after two tries. The whole secret to the game is the patterning of his punches. If you can time and avoid his uppercuts for the first minute and a half, then you will be able to get hit and not get knocked down. That is the secret to the game. The other characters are entertaining as well especially Super Macho Man's twisting knock-out punch and King Hippo's oversized drawers which keep falling down every time you hit him. Ah, to be young again...there is no substitute for the original and Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! is the ultimate classic of the NES Classic series. Highest Recommendation.

I played this game when I was 5 years old until I finally sold my nintendo 10 years later, and ever since I remember I had truly lost a treasure in Punch-Out. Though the levels are very simplistic and the controls are limited to ducking, hooking, and upper-cutting, Punch-Out is by far one of the most addictive NES games ever made. Starting off as an amateur, you fight your way up the ranks from Joe (someone help me w/ the names?) to the Indian chief to the Sodapop King and finally against the man himself- Mike Tyson. The true fun comes in learning each opponents moves and weaknesses as their difficulty increases with each level. Overall I believe I remember there being some 8 - 10 levels, but I can't give an exact amount. Nevertheless, Punch-Out is truly one of the best NES games ever made and will undoubtedly keep you up all night trying to beat it as it did with me years ago. Enjoy the challenge!

Oh my deary, where do I start with this game? I started playing this when I was 4 years old and every once and a while I'll break out the Nintendo and play it some more. This is the ultimate video game and even though this is the same as the original, except with Mike Tyson instead of Mr. Dream, there is something about this game that has always been a little more special to me. Mike just seems like a better opponent than Dream. Anyway, I think everyone with an NES should have this game because its hours of fun even if you hate boxing. I know I do. I just wish Nintendo would realize what a goldmine they were sitting on and release it on GBA like they did with Zelda, SMB, Ice Climber, Excitebike..., That will be a great day when I get to play it on my Gamecube instead of my dirty ol' half-dead NES.
