There a few games that provide wonderful, enjoyable and everlasting memories. Phantasy Star Online is such a game. This game has such beautiful environments, scenery and MAG that you immediately fall in love with them.
Whenever I hear the soundtrack, I feel utter nostalgic and would recount the events in my life during my game time with Phantasy Star Online and the friendships I made online. I have nothing but the best opinions for PSO.
I only have one copy of PSO and Dreamcast. I'm keeping these for life. You can have them after you pry them out of my cold, dead hands.

I bought Phantasy Star Online after Sega shut their servers down and never experienced the online play but from what I read it was the only way to play this game.
The graphics are good and the story could pass but the gameplay sucks if you have to play alone. I don't know why Sega put 4 controller ports on the Dreamcast if I gotta be online to experience the multiplayer aspect.
A HUGE disappoitment avoid like stale toast with rotten eggs!!

There aren't any games on the DreamCast which offer a player free roaming, except GTA2. This game is semi-free roaming and it's good enough. The gameplay does get very repititous. However the fun comes in developing one's character, as well as the characters MAG. If you can play online then all the better also. The music and sound is pretty good. So if you have a DreamCast (best system ever ignored!), this game may add a special place in your game collection.

This game is one of the best games ever made for the now extinct sega dreamcast. It still has some of the best graphics i have ever seen in a video game and it has withstood the test of time. This is a game that i picked up off a friend and then picked up a friend off the game. THe online gampelay was great but is no more. The gameplay is simple but never the less very entertaining. The sound was some of the best i have ever seen in a video game. This game was a breakthrough in its day and is still great fun to play. What ever did happen to the Pioneer 1?
Pick this game up and find out

Besides Skies of Arcadia or Grandia 2 this is probably the best RPG on the Sega Dreamcast. If you overlooked buying this game when you had a chance, you don't know what you're missing.
This game is unlike many other RPG's. PSO is pretty much a game where you have to kill a ton of monsters/enemies with your guns, swords, sabers, rods, staffs, magic or with any other weapon that you have. When you first start the game you can choose one of several characters form three different categories: Hunters, Rangers and Force. Each category has different strengths. Hunters are skilled in close-range combat, Hunters (which are probably the best in PSO) are skilled with and are the only kind that can use handguns, rifles and other guns, and Force are skilled with magical powers used to stun and eventually kill the enemy. After you select your character you can customize him anyway you like-head, size, shape, body color, proportion, etc...
The coolest part of this game is that you can play both off-line and online, making it the first online-console RPG game ever. The off-line mode itself is very fun. There are about 10 fun missions you can do to earn money. In some you have to bring a journalist down to Forest 1 and Forest 2 (the main areas the game takes place in) and go through the areas so she can take notes on the area. In others you will need to get biological data on 5 of the groups of animals in only 20 minutes. You can also use the off-line mode to train to level up to get ready to play online. The off-line mode is great, but nothing can touch the online mode. You can play online with over 1,000 people playing alongside of you, not to mention the thousands of other people who may be playing elsewhere in the game.
If you are looking for a great RPG for your Dreamcast, you've found one right here. Also check out PSO version 2. You'll be glad you did.
