Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - BORING
This game was fun online but when u weren't able to get online it was boring. This game is NOT worth the price!!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Greatest game I have ever played
This game is by far the greatest game, the graphics are spectacular, with very precise detail. The levesl are an intriquete weave of enemys and terrain to blow your mind. The gameplay is easy, and so are combos. You have a huge selection of weapons (as long as you pick them up.) The characters are very unique and some are just plain tight. Each character has a different weapon to start out with but they all can do the spells. Increase your level to gain HP and TP do better spells and deal more damage (be sure to feed your MAG.)In this game there are hundreds of items that can do an array of things. I also really like the online capability where you can woop up on the Boomas or whatever is attacking you and trade items and give them money health weapons etc. The storyline isn't the greatest, but trust me the game is still tops. Oh in this game it is not fight where you switch each time, you can run and atack and dodge, and all that good stuff while fighting an enemy. All in all this game deserves more credit but hey it only goes up to 5 stars

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - PSO, the place to go
Pso is by far the one of the best online roleplaying games available, although whatthe best is i have no idea... As an ex-avid player of everquest, when i began my quest on pso , I was a little skeptical about what i was going to find inside Segas servers, but lo and behold 128 hours into the game i am still hooked in anytime possable and i would recomend this game to ANY dreamcast owner with internet access, to be more precise dial up as the american version doens NOT support the broad band adapter... Being an avid rpg player, having played all the final fantasy available in the us and abroad, this game, given a few extra tweaks could be the greatest thing around, ie a few more stages would have been icing on the cake, little bit more in depth story line, and the ability to weild 2 weapons at once, but we cant have everything can we? The graphics are amazing, the play control is pretty good, the ability to strafe would have been nice, but can be done without, and the auto chat hotkey on the y button should be swappable but hopefully a sequel is in the works Over all this game is a treat, at times it can be redundant, but to most of the people i have talked to, we all agree, it is what games like Ultima Online and Everquest should have been

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Phantasy Star a Star
Let me start by saying Phantasy Star On-Line is a real gem. The game is posibly the best game I have ever played. Whats tha game like? Take Zelda, Gauntlet legends, and 007 mix them together and you have something like PSO. Like the other guy said bosses are hard but never imposible you just need to refine your stratagies and level up. Unlike Final Fantasy PSO is a shoot-em-up style, you walk in a area monsters jump up from the ground, bushes or fly in the screen, they roar at you and charge, you shoot them or stab them, you hit or miss, deal damage ect. The music is normaly calming when enemys apear it changes to the combat music, the music is nice and most of the time forget its there. The graphics are crisp and clean next to none polygons and the spell effects are good (Final Fantasy does a better job on lightning). Although some say there isn't a strong story line it pulls me along. If your bord of the levels just go to the hunter's guild and complete quests wich may be serious or silly. Like I said the game is fun you can play hours with out realizing it (once I sit down to PSO I don't get up for atleast 4 hours). As far as I see the game has one problem THERE IS NO PAUSE so people don't sit there on pause on the net. You can completly customize your character (skin,eye,cloths/armor color, size, build, head, and torso. Over all this is the best game curently out for the Dreamcast system.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Phantasy Star5 is the reason to buy a DC
First off, I have played 3 out of the 4 PS games (not including the latest) and have loved the series. (Well, not #3, but...) With that said, I had some very specific expectations of what this game should be.

Also, I am not playing on-line because Everquest left a bad taste in my mouth.

So how does this rate compared to the other games? It really can not be compared because it's a whole different game. You don't have lovable characters (Rika, Wren, Demi, Raja...) or even a party system. BUT you do get to combo your attacks. What's the point of combos? Because you play as a lone wolf and there are occassions where the bad guys will fight you 8-1.

The game tends to be fairly short, but at least it has direction unlike (ahem) Everquest. If you were to buy the book, you can actually see how the game is supposed to progress. While this can be considered cheating, I find it very helpful so you don't end up finding yourself in a really long game (like Final Fantasy).

A quick run-down on the things to make and/or break the game. The graphics are pretty awesome and at times, a bit fantastic. Particularly the city you get to run around in. The sounds are cool and the music while hokey in the city tends to draw you in in a futuristic sort of way. Game control is good, the flaws are in the programming. (You can't run on command, which is very annoying when facing mines.) The fun factor? Oh yeah, that is top notch because it is a fun game. RPG? Sure. Zelda-style if you don't mind. Action/adventure? In a way, yes.

It is a very good game, worth buying whether you want to get on-line or not. You almost don't miss the party system and the bosses are beatable though they can take a while. There are different hardness modes.

The best feature is the fact that you can choose your character. It is more than male or female and job type. You get to choose skin color, armor color, hair color and style, height and weight!!! There are lots of possibilities (and my hunter happens to look like Sephiroth.) and it was a very cool option.

I say this is one of the very few games that are worth buying on the DC. With the games that Sony has and is continuing to create, there are few Sega games that can compete. PSO is right up there with the 2K sports games.
