Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - It isn't Mario Kart, but it's close
Mario has always held the dominance on item based racing games. Other games have tried to follow in its foot steps, and this game by Rare comes the closest. Featuring zany items, a cast of Disney characters, plenty of racing tracks, and other innovations, Mickey's Speedway USA is close to Mario Kart in almost every respect. The play control and game designs are slightly different though. One thing that this game has going for it though are the voice samples. The game dolls out quips and comments as you pass guys and attack them. Other than this, the ideas are mostly borrowed from Mario Kart. The game is still excellent though and should hold people over until Mario returns.

For a racing game that is just supposed to be fun... it wasn't. The tracks are confusing, especially in multi-player mode. The sound effects (voices) while racing are annoying. The "camera" angles make it hard to see the track ahead. All around, it just was not a whole lot of fun.
As a fan of Mario Kart, I was expecting more of the same, but maybe a little different. Mickey's Speedway is a very bad spin-off of Mario Kart.
