I LOVE this game! It is really addictive, so once you start playing, you're hooked! It is a lot better than the first three, Red, Blue, and Yellow. The bad thing is that I'm a girl, and you always have to be a boy! I don't think that's fair. In Crystal, you get to choose. How come its not like that in the others?! And, I have all of the Pokemon games exept for Crystal, and the rest of my games, Mario Bros. and Harry Potter, I have to be a boy! Well, onto the point. In Gold, there are tons of new stuff! There's a Pokegear, which has cards that, when equipped, can turn Pokegear into a phone, map, radio, and clock! With a mom that saves your money, its really convenient! You can breed Pokemon so that you can get new ones, and there's a whole new area, along with Kanto(the one that was in Yellow and the others). However, in Kanto, the Safari Zone is shut down, Cinnabar Island is almost gone(the volcano on it erupted), Viridian Forest is now just a small patch of trees with no Pokemon, and you can't get to Digglett's Cave without waking up Snorlax, and that's really tough! The good things are: there are two casinos, two really huge department stores, and there's transportation by train and boat. If I were you, I'd get this game now!

I played Pokemon Gold 5 hours straight in the car while traveling.(I was apparently the passenger) And I could have played it for a day straight, if I was allowed of course. It is easier than Red,Blue or Yellow, and it is challenging to defeat everyone. Catching pokemon is easier, and more fun, since you have more choice. All the different kinds of pokeballs are fun, and its hard to catch all of the legendary pokemon. The fact that it can tell b/w night and day is handy, and having a mother that can keep part of your money is VERY handy. The only thing dissapointing about it is that you always have to be a guy! It bugs me alot! Overall, however, I would advise buying this as a gift/or for yourself!

The world of Pokemon took the world by strom when it was released. Pokemon are animals with special powers. Some people keep Pokemon as pets, but most people train thier pokemon for battle! In a Pokemon battle, nobody dies, they just "faint" or knocked-out but not dead. You can carry up to six pokemon in pokeballs.
Pokemon Gold takes place in the Johto region, which is different from the Kanto (the old world in Pokemon Blue, Red and Yellow) region. In this game, you can breed your own pokemon! Pokemon finally have Male and Female--the male pokemon are a little stronger than females. A addictive game!

Personally I thought that Pokémon Red and Blue were the best games ever created for Game Boy Color, but Gold and Silver were pretty good games too. There were some things I didn't like, for example, I think some of the new Pokémon look too much like ordinary objects with faces (Pineco???), and I liked the original 151 Pokémon better. Some of the old areas in Kanto, such as the Safari Zone, are now closed off. However, this game had a lot of advantages too.
-Now there are two worlds to explore: Kanto and Johto!
-More trainers allows for more battle experience.
-The keeping time idea was very clever. When it's nighttime in the real world, it's nighttime in the Pokémon world too! There are certain Pokémon you can only catch during the day, as well as ones you can only catch at night. It even keeps track of Daylight Savings Time and the day! Certain events only happen and certain Pokémon only come out on certain days of the week.
-Apricorns. Bring them to Kurt for new types of Pokéballs!
-More Pokémon to catch presents more of a challenge.
-New attacks.
-Dark and Steel Pokémon!
-Trade Pokémon with all previous versions of the game, as well as Crystal version.
-Breed Pokémon! Carry around eggs to hatch into baby Pokémon!
Play this game Pokémon Masters, if you liked the other ones and want a new one. If you're a new trainer, I would recommend playing Red and Blue first, they are the best ones anyway.

I got my Pokemon Gold about two years ago, and I've almost finished the game. The final opponent (Ash, Red) is tough! I've lost to him twice! However, I've been in training for about a month now, so I think I'm ready to face him again. Here's a tip for starters and experts: Practice alot and DO NOT try and avoid battles unless your Pokemon are not in good enough shape. I did that in the beginning. Because of that, I was having a tough time beating Bugsy, and I had a Cyndaquil, the fire Pokemon, and a Pidgey! I restarted, and the next time, I beat Bugsy in about two minutes! I only had a little bit of trouble with his Scyther. So do not avoid that many trainers. I highly recommend this game.
