Lots of violence to open the game and the movie clips are great. The game control becomes natural after just a few minutes. The progress of the game slows when sometimes you don't know where to go next.The bosses are incredible but it takes some time to figure out how to beat them. A strategy guide will take care of that. Get this game if you like Resident Evil...and get Kain 2 Overall the best game of its kind.

Okay, let's start off by saying that I am not one of these reviewers who will just sit here and say "Wow, it was so awesome". Instead, let me tell you why this game is worthy of your purchase. First of all, the graphics are a fine achievment on the Dreamcast. Some very good character animation and wisely chosen color and lighting to give the world a dark atmosphere. Next, the gameplay. The control in the game is challenging to master, but when done you are given a wide area of movements to make. You can accomplish many things as Raziel. The fighting in the game is fun and innovative. Unlike most games, you can not just keep hitting the bad guy until they are dead, you must find a way to kill them whether it be by spearing them, burning or some other gruesome attack. Another aspect is the story. I would rate this as an okay story as it deals well with Raziel and his past, giving an insight into his beginnings and how he must exact revenge on Kain. So to sum up I would say this game is well balanced and presents a challenge in it's puzzles for all gamers. It is enjoyable and addictive. I would recommend your purchase of this game at the soonest time possible.

Soul Reaver is a great game. As you start out you are stunned with some of the best graphics i have ever seen and an interesting story line. You are Raziel the fallen, the discraced, the dead. Kain has thrown you into a lake and turned you into a ghost. The nice thing is the game explains itself so you dont have to spend alot of time reading the instruction manual. Another thing is the actuall gameplay. It is interesting your ability to pick up weapons and finally get the soul reaver fused to your body. The combat is thrilling and the site of sticking a metal pole through a vampire is enough for me to buy the game. There are verious other methods of slaying such as inflaming, exploding, impaling, and vaporizing. The bosses may be too easy and the rest of the game is pretty easy but the sight of sticking metal through the first boss or being swatted by kain is awesome. You cant go wrong with this game.

SOUL REAVER IS THE DEFINITIVE GAME FOR ALL OF US TIRED OF HANGING ON TO VIDEOGAMES WITH GREAT VISUAL/PLAYING EFFECTS BUT MISSING A DECENT STORY LINE. THIS GAME WILL ABSORB YOUR SYNAPSES WITH ITS TALE OF BROTHERHOOD, REVERENCE, BETRAYAL & REVENGE. THE STORY IS ABOUT RAZIEL: A VAMPIRE THAT FALLS OUT OF THE FAVOR OF HIS LORD: CAIN; RAZIEL DESTINY IS TO BE CAST INTO THE LAKE OF THE DEAD, BY HIS OWN BROTHERS, FOR ETERNAL DAMNATION... AFTER AN ETERNITY OF PAIN, HE IS FINALLY "RESURECTED" BY THE ELDER GOD AND START HIS JOURNEY TO AVENGE HIMSELF. HIS ONLY AIM IS CAIN DESTRUCTION.... RAZIEL HAS SEVERAL ABILITIES AND THE BEST PART IS THAT WHEN YOU START THE GAME YOU ARE UNABLE FOR INSTANCE TO CLIMB WALL OR TO SWIM: YOU MUST EARN THIS ABILITIES AND OTHERS AS YOU PLAY ALONG. WHAT REALLY BLEW MY MIND WAS THE ATMOSFERE THE PROGRAMMERS MANAGED TO CRAM INTO THIS GAME: I WAS HOOKED FROM START TO END AND THIS THANK TO LOADS OF SPLENDID ANIMATIONS ALL ALONG THE WAY. I EASELY TRANFERED MYSELF FULLY INTO THE GAME AND SPENT MANY A SLEEPLESS NIGHT ENJOING IT, TO THE POINT THAT WHEN I FINISHED IT I WAS REALLY DISAPPOINTED: NOT BECAUSE OF THE GAME BUT BECAUSE THE DREAM CAME TO THE END AND I DID NOT WANT TO WAKE UP FROM IT.
