you are looking at the best system ever made by sega, except for the sega nomad, a portable sega genesis. at its release in 1990, it was extremely expensive, as were the games. but now its affordable and still is entertaining. i recommend the sonic the hedgehog games and mortal kombat games because they are the best sega genesis games ever. i have had mine since i was like 4 years old and have loved it the whole time( i was born 10/16/92 so i had one when it was popular) so get this it will be worth it.

I'll never forget the first time I got my hand's on the Genesis; it was Christmas 1994, I was ten year's old and a couple of months ago I played the Genesis for the FIRST TIME at my friend's house and I absoutely fell in love with Sega (I still love them to this very day), so I begged my mom for this system and behold I finally got it.
What made this system so great you ask? Simple; the games! Some of the BEST games EVER MADE were on the Genesis; Gunstar Hero's, Sonic 1, 2, and 3, Madden was FIRST started on the Genesis (though it was also on the SNES, but that was later on), Streets Of Rage, the Castlevania games were on here, Mortal Kombat 1 (they had blood on the Genesis game but they blocked it out on the SNES because of censor issues with Nintendo so Midway had to take it out and replace it with sweat), Street Fighter: The New Challenger's and there are AT LEAST 700+ games for this system alone.
So if your looking to get back to your old school gaming roots; start out with the Genesis, you will not regret it.

Whenever I want play a game with great graphecs,awsome sound,I would get a PS2 game from a shelf and play it. But whenever I want to take a trtp to Memory Lane I take out my trusty Sega Genesis,get a game and put it in. This system is what got me into video games. I highly reconmend it. It's also a great starter system for the little kids. Although the SNES has better sound the Genesis game play better. Go to Ebay,Amazon, or a used game shop to buy it.

This is one of the best systems I've ever played.I've had this system since I was 7 and I still play this system today.Here's five realy fun games on the genesis in no order:
Thunder Force 3,Sonic the Hedgehog 1,2, and 3,Contra : The Hard Cores,and more!
The only two horrible games I've played on the genesis are Hard Drivin' and Shaq Fu.
I even love going to my local fleemarket to buy more games for this system.Even if I have my Xbox and Gamecube systems then I'd still play this system.Get it if you see it on sale anywhere.It's that much fun.

Ok diz syztem iz de best ever, and i mean ever. Aight this system started the whole trend(this system and Nes)which led to the production of 3D based systemz. When i waz little like 3 or 4 ,(I'm 12 now) I had a genesis as my first system and i had sonic2 and i wouldnt stop playing. And + it iz realy good az a starter system for lil' kids because if you get em hooked on 3D systemz first, they'll eventually start complaining about smaller things(sound etc.) but if you get em a nes or genesis and work your way up to gc or ps2 or xbox they'll really,REALLY appreciate all game systems and wont complain about the minor things and wont take the em for granted
Plus it is cheap .... for the nes.(Nes had better sound and stuff but for fun, they're the same.)
It iz just the perfect system really and games are..well...CHEAP that iz why it getz 5(count em 1,2...you get the idea dont make me type past the 1000 word limit.Cuz i'll start rambling like i am now!
No but really folks and peoplez It is just.......perfect......
