Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Not the best game...
This game was REALLY easy. It didn't really seem to have much of a plot either. I think that it is fun to complete the story, but the final boss, Baby Bowser, is pathetically easy. Also, there are a lot of helpful but not needed things, such as white shyguys and extra yoshis. It is easy to beat the game even without them. The only challenge in the game is to get to all of the courses by getting the big hearts. Otherwise, there is no challenge at all in this game. I would probably suggest this for beginner N64 players, but it isn't all that fun.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Yoshi's Story: sniffing out the truth
As you may have read, the general consensus is that Yoshi's Story is a fine 2D platformer for children to play, but offers little challenge for the rest of the market. I strongly disagree with this.

I have been an avid gamesplayer for nigh on 11 years, from the NES (Famicom) right through to the N64. I own virtually every Mario/Yoshi title, and Yoshi's Story is my favourite to date.

True, if a player just plunders through the game, it can be finished within an hour, two at most. But dedicated gamers will find themselves caught in the real groove. The hook in this game is to NURUTRE your Yoshi.

Different fruits are favoured/disfavoured by each Yoshi. A casual gamer who just wants another straightforward platformer will find such mushy sentiment ludicrous and down as many of any kind of fruit possible to finish the game. However, a devoted gamer will discover the joy in sniffing out and hunting down their Yoshi's favourite fruit.

All Yoshi's love melons, and to find all 30 in one course, as well as the three hearts needed to unlock each world, AND to discover the secret White and Black Yoshis, PLUS killing every shyguy to make Yoshi's happiness quota higher, not to mention finding power bees, and collecting every coin from every course to unlock a rumoured 'hidden' Yoshi, is a gargantuan task indeed. Of course, there a those who just won't care about all this. But to those few dedicated gamers, who, like me, appreciate the subtler side of computer entertainment, I urge you, BUY THIS GAME!

FYI, I got to the end credits in an hour. A year on, I'm still looking for all the secrets. And this is a gamer whos finished each and every Zelda game (excluding Majora's Mask) within six weeks, tops.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Very bad
What was nintendo thinking!? Face it guys nintendo will never make anymore good games....but there is hope! But if you are a kid then why not buy it!!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - BEST GAME EVER!!!!!!!!!
Ok, this is definitely the best game ever(not counting any RPG's I've ever played)! It gives you endless fun and it has unlimited replayability. The music is absolutely wonderful and I find myself humming it all the time. The graphics are amazing for a Nintendo game that's not an RPG. Of course, to be honest, they don't hold a candle to PSX graphics, but that's just Nintendo. The controls of the game are easy to use and really good. It's easy to play, but also hard, depending on how you play. As you go on in the game it gets really hard, though. There are a maximum of four level options for each "page" of the story. And let me just tell you, when you beat the game, it is AWESOME! BUY THIS GAME!!!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Good for the little people...
Yoshi's Story is a game that is definetly for the younger group. Its a storybook happy world. Yoshi (a cute originally green dinosaur with a long toung to devour enemies, eat fruit, and pop out eggs) and all of his friends are out to save the Super Happy Tree that the bad dinosaur Bowser has stolen. Eat fruit along the way to help keep your strength up. The music is fun and catchy, the sound effects are harmless, and the Yoshi's are so cute and make funny noises. This is a good game for those who have just bought this system, or for begginers. I wouldn't suggest it to a three year old, because it may be to diffucult (there are some things that they might not understand or get to frusterated with), but anyone between 4-10 or maybe 11 would enjoy the game and it would make them feel good about themeselves. This is deffinetly a good game for the middle (between 1 and 10) aged kids, it's not to blow-em-up, and it's not to "kiddish" like Elmo games. It's a good game that will make kids feel good about themeselves. For the older group I would suggest that you would just rent this game, you wouldn't want to buy it.
