Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great game
This game initially came out around 10 years ago with an expansion pack couple years later. Personally I only play battle.net mode(online play) because there user created maps and missions unlike the ones that come with the game. If you plan to get this game I highly suggest having internet connection.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - BEST GAME EVER!!!
Simply put, this is the best game ever. Stop reading this review and go buy it now. Online play is free. Plenty of campaigns and missions to enjoy. The online play is revolutionary.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A Classic among RTS games
StarCraft is already established as one of the finest RTS games ever made, joining other titles such as Command and Conquer, Total Annihilation, and Age of Empires. It has won numerous awards and has sold millions of compies. But that's not the only reason to play it.

The gameplay is incredibly balanced and unique. Each of the three races one can command has different strategies and advantages. One, the Terrans, is basically humans with advanced technology. The Protoss are a technologically advanced psionic race, while the Zerg are a ravenous horde of insectlike creatures.

The single player campaign is quite entertaining, following a unique storyline filled with tension, and riveted with betrayal, and sacrifice.

With Battle.net, the free online gaming service provided by Blizzard, you can connect to the internet and play with other people around the world. If you ever get tired of playing regular games, you can choose custom designed maps, made by other players. The object of these custom games is often different from the original seek-and-conquer intent of a standard game, but they can be as fun, if not more.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Best rts game ever
i will start by saying that in my opinion and in many others that this is the best rts game of all time. The battle chest is an extremely good deal seing as how i payed 40 bucks for both the games seperate without any strategy guide. Even though that is a lot of money it was definetly worth it.
Graphics: well, lets face it the graphics arent as good as some of todays rts games, but you have to remember that starcraft was created a very long time ago and for those days rts games starcraft had really good graphics.
Strategy: I cant even begin to telll you how much strategy is involved in this game. First of all there are three races all of which with many strategies. There are about 10 different base strategies for each race. and you can bend or twist those strategies to make up your own completely
Multyplayer: What really makes a good game is its online multyplayer. This may be the best part of all with starcraft. To get online just follow these simple steps, first you must download the latest version of online gameplay, then pick a unique screename and an exclusive password, click create account, then type in your screename and password and click go and your online. You then can go to a quick match to match you up as quick as possible, join a game that has some of the features you would like, or host a game and custamize your whole game from the map you will play on to the rules you will make. please keep in mind hosting a game will provide a much better and more fun game but will take a lot longer to get the game started.
Campaign: the campaigns are very good and extremely challenging, but are kind of boring once you have beaten them, but that dosn't matter because this game has great online play.
Different Races: Terran: the standard human army with marines tanks and battleships. Terran are particularly strong defensively and at weakening their oppenent and best the protoss easiest.

Zerg: the zerg are monsters mutated things creepy creatures with small fast clawing zerglings strom powerhouse ultralisks and spore shooting guardians. Zerg are best at rushing and wiping out their opponent in the begining of the game. They are paticulary best against the terran.

Protoss: My favorite, Protoss are super intelligent alienst with high teck weaponry from the fast slashing zealot, to the bomb shooting reaver, to the mightiest of all units the protoss carrier.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - The only word that can describe this game is legendary.
Starcraft originally came out on the PC nearly a decade ago, published by Blizzard entertainment, which had previously been noted for the outstanding Warcraft II and it's expansion. Warcraft II and its expansion both were superb, and had many fans, myself included. When I heard that Blizzard was producing another RTS, I had to check it out. What I found was a masterpiece; I found a game with addictive and challenging gameplay. I found a game that was not restricted to one way to play it effectively. Now, nearly a decade later, I still see this game as the one greatest games ever created. Now, a decade later, this game stands out as one of the only RTS's that is still alive and kicking.

Starcraft is a Sci-fi RTS that takes place in the far off future. In this world, their are three different races that you will play; the war-torn, strife ridden Terrens, the nightmarish Zerg swarms, and the noble, psychic beings known as the Protoss. All three of these races behave very differently, and no two races will be played (most effectively) the same. All three races require a vastly different play style if you don't want to find yourself getting stomped time and time again. This is a nice touch that even some modern RTS's can't quite seem to grasp.

The game is, for the most part, very easy to pick up and learn. To master the game however, could very well be impossible. Their are so many different tactics that can be used with each of the three races, it's astounding. You can use a certain unit extensively and win, but a player who uses multiple kinds of units simultaneously will have a much better chance of bringing home victory. And the same tactic won't always work twice.

The campaign for Starcraft is an epic story that spans 30 missions, (ten for each of the races) and tells the story from the perspective of a few main characters in each of the factions. The story is gripping, and will suck you in and never let you go until the end. The characters are reasonably unique as well, and they stand out as one of the best character casts ever in a RTS.

As if the single player weren't already good enough, Blizzard also provides a free way to battle other people online through Battle.net. This allows you to test the skills you will have gotten going through the single player campaign on your fellow humans, who will provide a much different challenge from the games excellent AI.

The expansion is also included in this chest, and its every bit as good as the first game. A new story, and 26 new missions await in the expansion, as well as a host of new units for each race, which even further necessitates the need for solid tactics. These new missions are difficult, and will require you to become very skilled just to finish the campaign (I would suggest finishing the first games campaign first before you start the expansion, or else you'll miss out on half of this games epic story, not to mention the valuable skill and experience it will provide.)

The strategy guides for both Starcraft and Starcraft: Brood War are included in this chest as well. The guides are decent, and while some of the information is wrong, it does provide solid tactics for defeating each map, as well as detailed information about every unit. The guides are helpful if you are really stuck, and can't figure out how to defeat a certain mission.

Starcraft was a masterpiece when it came out, and it is just that today. If you are a RTS fan, you owe it to yourself to experience the world of Starcraft, and there is no finer way to go than with this Battlechest.
