This is the only guide to the expansion that I know of so that is reason unto itself to buy it until you get an alternative.
I'm still waiting on the expansion to come in the mail from europe but I'm already disappointed with the guide. I tried to purchase a standard enchantment from an enchanter and he started offering me new enchantments from the expasion. I politely declined as I was playing one of my low level toons but then checked this guide out to see what it had to say regarding enchanting and the expanded professions. It gives a list of the NAME of the created item, the skill needed, and the reagents needed. It does NOT give any indication of what said enchantment DOES. Nothing! Nada! I found myself wondering if the the editor of this guide even plays Warcraft. Here's an example from the book:
ENCHANT BRACER - STATS: 315: Trained: 6 arcane dust, 6 lesser planar essence.
What stats? What kind of a bonus to these stats? Nothing is given. There's a whole section for all the tradeskills like blacksmithing, leatherworking, cooking, etc. and you have no clue as to what each item does. Extremely frustrating.

Bought this book the next day after I got Burning Crusade. Since I've been playing World of Warcraft for about a year I knew the basics but would get lost or kept reffering back to WoW quest sites like ThottBot.
The guide is decently well written. From starting a Blood Elf Hunter I used the quest guides to help be venture from the starting zone to the Ghostlands. I quickly found out that the quest hints really do not give any location for the mobs or items to collect, just the starting and finishing quest npcs (non player characters).
With each zone there is a nice map with key points of interest. This is helpful in a large city but you can almost find all of the informaton from any city guard as well. There is also a small amount of information for certian mobs and where they are usually located. Again, it's helpful for questing.
One nice feature of the guide is the amount of items listed from the Epic to Tier 1 and 2 gear. With Burning Crusade many of these items are new and it's handy to see what's available. Another helpful part is the professions, the guide lists all of the skills for each profession up to 375, the new limit with Burning Crusade.
Overall, I am happy with the guide but I feel that it's best used as a refernce guide with the popular WoW questing sites. I usually will have WoW running and when I'm in flight, search for my current quest on-line. Then I will refer back to the guide for the maps and any tips about the quest.
The guide does feel like the information is slightly skimmed or lighten, with such a large game it's hard to include as much information as possible. As a plus, the pages are very full and packed with information, did not see much waste or "filler" in this guide.

The information in this book is:
1. Hard to find
2. Not completely accurate
3. Easier to find on thottbot or allakhazam
I purchased this in the hopes that it would be a good read and maybe offer some tips for BC. There are a few boss fight tips that are so painfully obvious that reading them was of little value. This book is just a very large ad for WoW, which is funny because you'd think most people reading it would already own WoW.
The art work is great, the quest info is passable, but the price is too much and the return on value is non existant.

WOW is great in general, and this strategy guide is a must if you purchased the expansion pack. As far as I'm concerned, you can't play without it!
