this is a great sonic game, but it could of been legendary. sonic 3 was split in 2 pieces. sonic and knuckles was the other halve. sega couldn't meet the "Hedgehog Day" deadline, so split the 2 up. if sega thought this over, they would've seen that it was stupid to do this. split them up, just to reales sonic 3 on Groundhog Day. if sonic 3 and sonic and knuckles were together, the reception of the game would've made up for this and exceeded the sales of sonic 2, which is the best selling game for the genesis with 6 million copies sold, but with them seperated, sales between the 2 total 4 million. but since you can combine sonic 3 and sonic and knuckles together to get the full sonic 3 game, you get the lengendary game you should of got back in 1994. if you own a genesis, get this game as well as sonic and knuckles.
Rating: - A Pretty Good Sonic Game
In my opinion,this is Sonic's weakest game.Everything in it is good no doubt,but it was too much of a departure from Sonic 2 for me.The plot is the best of the four Genesis games.Dr.Robotnik has crashed the Death Egg on Angel Island and needs the Chaos Emeralds to make it fly,so he convinces their gaurdian Knuckles the Echidna to join against Sonic,who is visitng Angel Island with Tails.The graphics are GREAT!Gameplay is fun but some things are too complicated for my tastes(such as the moving platform in Carnival Night Zone)All the zones are good,but what makes this one stand out is the music.As always the tunes are really good(wait till you hear the Launch Base theme)Overall this is a good game,but with too much plot and too little originality.Buy it only too complete the Sonic Genesis series

I have all the sonic games and i love them all equally but what i like about this is theres a save option and tails can finally fly even carrying sonic!!! but theres a little suprise to find if you have sonic & knuckles: hook up sonic 3 to the top of sonic & knuckles and play all the way through you'll find out what the suprise is!!! ive already found it out. this game is awesome and is worth spending 6 to 19 bucks on. IF YOU HAVE A GENESIS GET THIS GAME AND GET SONIC 1 2 and SONIC & KNUCKLEs!!!
Rating: - A fun game to play
I've owned a Genesis for over 10 years now and Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is still a lot of fun to play. Fast and furious. This is not the better then the previous installments, idea wise. However, the gameplay in part 3 has been much improved. Jumping, spinning, power-ups, that thing Sonic does when you make him jump and you press the jump button again, and last but definetly not least Super Sonic that's where the fun begins. The graphics were a noticable improvement, Sonic and Tails never looked so good. The music is well...the usual "Sonic the Hedgehog" tunes. Despite the lack of ideas "Sonic the Hedgehog 3" is still an incredibly fun game to play, even by todays standards. Definetly worth your hard earned money.
