Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great Wii Game for Kids
We bought a Wii a few months ago and have been looking for a good title for young kids to play. This game definitely fills the bill. The controls are easy to use and intuitive. To walk or run right, you simply tilt the controller to the right. To push an object, you push toward the screen, etc. There is also a feature that allows a parent to help with a limited number of tasks with an extra controller. Kids may like to see you help, but can generally perform the required tasks on their own, given the clear animated diagrams that appear to demonstrate the actions they should perform.

The game seems engaging for kids, and has the feel of a Dora episode, with a backpack appearing to dispense items, and a chain of intermediary tasks leading up to a larger goal. The one caveat I have is that I think many three year olds would be frustrated without a fairly large amount of assistance, but 4 to perhaps 7 seems like a good target audience. Older kids might become bored for the same reasons that the game works so well for younger kids: the tasks are comparatively easy, and the game is structured to prevent players from failing in any serious way.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Perfect for my 3 1/2 year old
I wrangled for days over whether I should risk the disappointment of my 3 1/2 year old son by giving him a video game that he wouldn't be able to play.

I finally caved in and handed it over. I couldn't be happier.

My son had never played a Wii (or any other video game) before Safari Rescue. After the game was first loaded, I probably spent ten minutes getting him acclimated. The first ten minutes were a struggle -- I stood behind him and moved his arms like he was a puppet. But he was able to progress through the game at a pace that kept his interest. The next twenty minutes were much better, but he'd still get "stuck" and need my advice: "Go down that ladder!" "Jump over that rock." "Press '2' when you're near that tree!"

After a half hour, he really didn't need me at all. I read a book while he saved the animals. It took him well over 90 minutes to finish the game, but he absolutely loved it.

One tip: when you start the game, you're given an option of turning on "help" icons or leaving them on. Leave them on! The "help" icons are little video clips that play in the lower left of the screen and demonstrate the movement necessary to achieve whatever task is currently being attempted in the game. My son would get confused, then glance at the icon and immediately figure out what he was supposed to be doing. It's not only helpful -- it teaches the kids to look for solutions on their own. So much better than "Dadddddddyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!?!?!"

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Not a game for a 3 year old
I bought this for my 3 year old nephew and he won't be able to use it for a while. I don't know who came up with the ages on this game, but to pay attention to the screen while utilizing the remote control is not something a 3 year old is able to accomplish. I'm sure it will be good once he can master the remote for WII, I just hope he is still into Diego when he does.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - FINALLY
Finally a WII game my 4 year old could enjoy and play by himself. It is also enjoyed by my 15 year old autistic son who has difficuly with some of the other games in his age range.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Very Easy to Follow & Learn!
My 4 1/2 year old LOVES this game. He has mastered the CARS Wii Game, and this Diego was simple for him to learn. I liked that it actually spoke when the instructions were on the screen. So my son did not have to yell for me to read each directions. His favorite is still CARS, but did play this all week at first, now just occasionally. He is waiting for his birthday to receive CARS 2 Maternational. This game should be at the 19.99 - 24.99 price point, as there are not that many advanced sections.
