Your Favorite Hero in Lego Form

LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures takes the fun and creative construction of LEGO and combines it with the wits, daring and non-stop action from the original cinematic adventures that enthralled audiences everywhere (Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade). With a unique tongue-in-cheek take on the original adventures, LEGO Indiana Jones follows Dr. Jones escapades through the jungles of South America to the mountaintops of India. Fans can build, battle and brawl their way through their favorite cinematic moments, from Indy’s entanglements with snakes to his dashing boulder run.

Of course, pop culture’s most iconic archaeologist will whip through all the classic moments with the help of a host of supporting characters including Marion Ravenwood and Short Round. Players can also mix and match the body parts of more than 60 playable characters to create new heroes just as they could in the best-selling LEGO Star Wars games.

Customer Reviews
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Good times!
I know, I know... the Lego series of games are primarily aimed at kids. But they sure are a fun way to wile away some time, no matter what age you might be. Lego Indiana Jones is just fantastic, and pays excellent tribute to some of the finest adventure movies ever made. And as a bonus, for the first time ever, I actually enjoyed something related to Temple of Doom.

As most reviews have already stated, the game has two modes: story and free play. Story mode takes you through each movie in order. The emphasis in this mode is reenacting the movies, solving puzzles in order to move forward, and having dust-ups with various bad guys.

Once you complete a level, free play mode becomes available for that level. In free play, you go back to each level and use a variety of characters to retrieve items to add to a collection back at your "base," Barnett College. As you do so, you also unlock bonus levels, gather Lego "studs" to buy upgrades, and buy new characters.

Unlike a lot of games that rely on the "unlockable" formula of gameplay for holding your attention, Lego Indiana Jones never makes it feel like a grind, like you have to cover the same ground over and over again to advance. Instead, they've managed to hit a sweet spot, where you feel pleasantly compelled to go back and revisit each level, just to see what new surprises await you.

It's quite a testament to how well the game captures the spirit of the movies when, after each session with the game, I wanted to pop in the actual movies and watch them all over again. And the music is fantastic! The game uses the original score from each movie during the appropriate levels, which really adds a sense of polish and excitement to the proceedings.

When I finally hit 100% complete in the game and the Lego studs started raining down in Barnett College, I was actually quite sad that it was all over. This game is just pure fun. A little challenging, but very rewarding. If you liked the movies, this is really a no-brainer.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - somewhat lacking
The Lego games are all really cute, but it lacks something. You can get stuck in a level after all the bad guys are dead, and there are no "hints" or directions to what you have to do to exit the level, and of course if you don't figure it out,and stop the game ,you must repeat the level and cannot continue until you DO figure out the last requirement in that level. Both my son and husband gave up,and haven't played it again.I noticed this is the problem in the other Lego series games as well.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - lots of extras
This game has a lot of extras to discover. This is a good game and my 5 year old has truly enjoyed it.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Another Way to Enjoy the Adventures
The following review reflects that the primary user is a 7 year old male and a mild fan of the Indiana Jones series. I purchased this game on the recommendation from the parents of my son's friend. The game is follows the story line of the films where points are attained and levels unlocked by completing a series of tasks. I like the game because:
1. Problem solving is required.
2. The game reflects the story line of the movie series so one has a clue in what to do next.
3. The written clues are at a level that just challenge my son's reading abilities. ( perfect level for growth in reading skills)
4. Lego characters make what little shooting violence less graphic.
5. It is not so complicated that one gets stuck for a long period of time.
6. Multiple players can participate although the lead character has the most input.

On the negative side the game could be played on any of the current gaming consoles and does not take advantage of the unique accelerometer features of the Wii system

Overall the game is very engaging - (I have to pry him away from the game at times) and completion of levels is a source of satisfaction. Ideal for players between 6 to 10 years of age or any fan of the films.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - good choice!
I purchased this game for my son to play on the Wii and he loves it! has enjoyed it for hours many, many days since receiving it.
