Product Description:
Star Wars Republic Commando is a squad-based first-person shooter that lets you explore the elite world of the Star Wars military. Leading a 3-man squad of Republic Commandos, your missions take you deep behind enemy lines on over 14 intense and challenging levels through three different campaigns where you will face more than ten brutal enemies. You'll have more than a dozen deadly weapons at your disposal, but none more lethal than your squad. What makes the squad in Star Wars Republic Commando so unique is the game's innovative 'One Touch Squad Control' system that allows you to engage your squad with just one button. Multi-player capabilities including deathmatch, team deathmatch and capture the flag. Play with up to 16 players online via out of the box Internet play on PC. ESRB Rated T for Teen

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Amazing Game!
A great game! So fun! Although it does not work on my really nice gaming computer because it does not work with Nvidia Geforce 8800 graphic cards. But it works on my laptop just fine!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Surprisingly large online following
I was surprised with the new games out how many people are playing what is essentially an older game now. And yes, it's still fun..

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Good, but short
The game was a blast, if a bit short. That, and the lack of bump mapping support for newer video cards (3850 here) are the only reasons I pulled one star.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - BUY THIS!
Intense team work/action game. Great graphics, cutscenes, and weaponry. Do yourself a favor and buy this!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - overlooked game
This is a game I've had since it came out originally in 2005, and I keep coming back to it. The action is great, the graphics hold up well, and the squad controls (and the squad members themselves) are brilliant and very easy to use. This game also holds the distinction of being the only shooter I've died in because I was laughing at something (fortunately dying is no big deal since your squad members can resuscitate you...unless they go down too)

As a star wars game, it succeeds brilliantly in capturing a much more in-the-trenches feel of the clone wars than the movies even though it takes us to the same places (geonosis and kashyyyk). This is partially because with one small, green exception there are no jedi in the game, which leaves you and your squad to do all the work without any forcepowered cheating :P The other thing that bears pointing out is your squadmates themselves. Despite being clones, they all have a unique character and provide a good amount of comic relief, Sev and Scorch especially. They're very much one of the strengths of this game.

There's a technical problem with nvidia 8000 series graphics cards where you have to set the bump mapping to low or the game won't play. Hopefully that'll be fixed in a driver update sometime soon.

The worst thing about the game is the ending leaves it wide open for a sequel...and three years on, no word of one. Delta squad has appeared in the republic commando novel series, so, their future may play out there. Still hoping for Imperial Commando, though :P
