Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Pretty Awesome!
I must say I wasn't sure if I was going to like this game when I first purchased it. The idea of a not so peaceful harvest moon seemed a bit more realistic so I decided to give it a shot. Once I started playing I found that I couldn't put it down. I enjoyed the challenge of the caves and the ability to grow all types of crops year round in each cave. The animals on my farm are a bit creepy though...lol.

I never got very far into creating your own weapons and items. I plan on going back and trying to revisit the game before the sequel comes out.

I couldn't give the game 5 stars; I still like the HM DS better, but this is very close. I look forward to the sequel.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - review for Rune Factory: A Fantasy Harvest Moon by: Tyler Cain
I love all Harvest Moon games my favorite is "Friends of Mineral Town" but Natsume has outdone it`s self especially copared to some other Harvest Moon games. Again I love all of them but alot of them have typeo`s but having to translate it from 3 types of Japanese to English is very hard but I have found none so far in this game. Again this is a great game and very fun espescially adding the monsters and its really cool since they can halp you with your field and fight with you,(sort of like Pokemon) but I dont think its plagurism. Thanks for making yhis game Natsume 5 stars!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Rune Factory Review
This game is AMAZING!! Sure, this game is a decendent of the Harvest Moon games, but it differs in many wonderful ways.
I love the Harvest Moon series, but this is definately the best one I've played so far. Some of the excellent new features to this game are: You get to plant crops in caves which stay the same season all year round! can the other HM games do that? Don't think so!
Also, in the cave, there are monsters. You can either fight or tame these monsters, but if you chose to fight, you'll need some weapons... You can use your farming tools, but you can also buy swords, or /make/ them if you house has been expanded. Yes, make. You can also make (or buy) potions to help you in the caves, and defence items to help you.
(Oops! Getting too into detail! Well, that's good, and bad! Bad, because you probably don't want to read a long review, but good because I think this game if so awesome I can't stop talking about it!!!) Anyway, I'll cut the rest of this short.
I really like the music, and though it is repitive, there are things added each "verse" of the song (no lyrics, of course), like another instument sound, ect. The music also changes a whole lot, so you don't listen to the same thing over and over as you explore.
Anyway, there are LOADS of things I love about this game, and I couldn't possibly list them all! So, my advice? Go buy this game right now from Amazon.com!!!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Harvest Moon meets Finial Fantasy
As always I appreciate the great service from Amazon.

I purchased this game for my 12 year old daughter. She has all the harvest moon games for PS1, PS2 Came cube and Game boy Advance and loved them all, so when I seen this one I knew it would be something she would love because it reminded me of the Final Fantasy games her sister played. When she began to play the game, that was her first comment. It was Harvest Moon Meets Final Fantasy.

My Daughter said this game rocks!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - A great reworking of a tired franchise
Natsume doesn't usually do much to improve the Harvest Moon series that much. This is a very competent re-working of a franchise desperately in need of innovation. In addition, controls and the interface are top notch as well. I hope they continue to innovate the series as this has been one of my faves since the old SNES days.
