Rating: - Tecbnical problems take the fun out
I am using Aspyr'sPrey with a MacPro and OS 10.5.2. Unfortunately, the game is unresponsive to keyboard commands which pretty much makes the game useless as soon as you progress a level or two. Their technical support has been disappointing. I don't know if they have had other reports of this nature or whether the problem is limited to just my computer or computers of my type.
Rating: - Great graphics, compelling storyline, a little sadistic.
Great game, great graphics, nice soundtrack, liked the native American element, highly immersive environment. I would highly recommended it. Boyfriend LOVED it, a little bloody and graphic for me.
Rating: - Fun game, great looking, original gameplay twists
This is the best-looking (and sounding) game I know of for Mac, and the wallwalking etc. make it a great change from generic repetitive shooters like Doom. It's still just a shooter, with a linear plot, but it's the best of the genre you can get today. Multiplayer is fun too if you can find opponents. I wish there were more of it--hopefully Prey 2 will come to Mac as well.
Rating: - She's a beauty.
Stunning graphics. Interesting game play. Even a story. The best thing about Prey, besides the awesome graphics, has to be the gravity flipping and portal confusion. Adds a new dimension to 3D First Person Shooters. The weapons are cool and blow up and/or disintegrate your enemies in different ways. The enemy adapts to your level. If you are a new gamer, it goes easy on you. If you're a pro, watch out.
The only problem, is that it seems as though the developers were in a hurry to finish the game. Some of the levels seem to look the same. There hasn't been an update for the game at all, though I haven't had any problems with it (up to Mac standards). The most disappointing thing is that not enough people play multiplayer, and there aren't many multiplayer maps to begin with. This may be only because of the steep system requirements vs. the overall popularity of the game amongst people with fast computers (gamers).
Overall, if you're looking for a new 3d FPS game to play, and if you're old like me and loved the old Duke Nukem 3d games, this game is for you. It has that 3d Realms old-school humor that you can get a kick out of once again.
Rating: - Great Multiplayer, solo mission a bit short but good
I haven't played an FPS in a while and when I had some free time I downloaded the trial and what sold me was the multiplayer which you can play for free. The demo had 2 MP maps but the full version has 12. Most of the MP maps are 5 star. The only downside is finding a multiplayer game online is discouraging but findable. Usually there are a few people playing but when there is not I join a server then in a minute or two people start joining. Makes you think people are ot playing but they will join soon. the solo mission is really good. the demo of the solo mission has a lot of cut scenes and the levels seem small but once you get past that point on the full version there are some very clever map puzzles to figure out. It could be a bit longer on the SP.
