Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Useful, cool, annoying.
I bought this because I wanted to eliminate the need for the chords to eliminate the USB cables, however I did not do enough homework on this product.

Cons

1st - if there are any software updates to your control - it has to be wired into the PS3 to recieve those updates.
2nd - if you have any adjustment issues (like you held the L3 button down while the controler was 'initialized') the controler needs to be plugged in so that it can be fixed.
3rd - the charging of the actual controler can only be done while the PS3 is running - never while it is turned off.
4th - only 2 controls can be put on the docking station while to place 2 more you need USB cables
5th - placing the controls on the docking station must be done gently otherwise you may damage the USB mini port on the control or the USB port on the docking station.

Pros

1st - The controls do turn off once they are charged (and while charging) so that the batteries in the controls themselves are not conditioned over time.
2nd - The controls are fully charged and stay charged for a while - this is indicated by a red light (charging) and a green light (charged).
3rd - It does eliminate the USB cables
4th - It is a cool looking device and it simply enhances the already awesome look of the PS3 - displaying cool colors to indicate charging status and displaying the controls themselves.

Had I done a bit more research I probably would not have bought this. There is nothing wrong with it - I do use it - but it is not needed. Here is a real life example.

Several weeks ago my controls started messing up. They would not initialize right. The buttons would respond sluggishly or not at all. They had not be plugged up with the PS3 in over a week. Well. After several hours of frustration (and contemplating the horror that my PS3 was messed up) I worked backwards from the problem starting with the simplest solution - which worked. (thankfully)

I had to plug both controls in (on rotations because I only have 1 USB cable) and I had to re-initialize them with the PS3. Now I charge the controls on the docking station and then every few days I turn on the PS3 and plug up one control and play for a bit - swap - and play with the one that was plugged up. Sounds confusing but this seems to have fixed the problem.

Thank YOU!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Works great
I had another one of these from a different company and it wouldn't charge anything... This one works great and with the two usb on the back it's expandable to support 4 controllers if you already have four or plan to upgrade in the future.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - It fried my PS3 controller after a while
It has fried my controller after 4 days of regular use, is expensive and good looking but definitely it may harm your controllers.
Now my controller does not charge anymore, so is death
So in the end I will continue using the PS3 to charge my controller.
Not recommended, don't waste your money

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Nice Stand
This stand is excellent for charging a couple of controllers. Plugging controllers into the PS3 every night to charge them was a pain (as I often forgot). The charger design has a sleek look and looks good on the bookcase shelf. The only drawback is the connection to the controller (which is not the charger's fault). Since the controller design charges through the mini-usb jack, it is not as simple as the charging of my wii controllers.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Needed Accessory
I did not like that to charge my PS3 controllers I needed to leave my PS3 on and running, even when I wasn't using it. This accessory solved that problem and it did it well.

It can charge up to 4 devices at once (2 using the brackets and 2 using the side USB ports). I currently use this device to charge my PS3 Controllers as well as my Darklite Bluetooth Headset EX-01.

It is very simple to use. My only complaint is that sometimes I will plug in a controller and instead of the light turning red saying it is going to charge, it goes green saying it is fully charged even when I know it is not. All I do is unplug the power from the back of the charge station and then plug it back it or unplug the controller and replug that in. This seems to correct it and starts to charge the connected devices.
