Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - but had to get a new mouse to program "pause"
Have been playing this a long time and liked it so well I bought a new Logitech G5 gaming mouse in hopes that I could indeed program one of the 2 thumb buttons as a "pause" key, it worked! Runs nice and fluid using an AMD Athlon64 3500+ processor with XP on an NVidea 256MB DVI card giving me great rez on my flat screen and I also run TV on at the same time as Picture-in-picture. The DVI is great when running to the flatscreen, but VGA would suffice I am sure. The power is what most helps, the 3 gigs of ram I have probably doesn't hurt either. With prices these days one can really pump up a system! I oil the fan that is on the video card with silicone lube once a year, and things keep rockin'.
Great visuals with this game with ability to press the alt-key with use of left and right mouse buttons to either rotate the playing field or zoom in out I think. I use the wheel on the G5 mouse though for the zoom and usually keep it in one place. At times things are hidden from view though, so I pause and rotate to choice.
One drawback is inablilty to ever reprogram key assignments, just gotta find a mouse that will adapt to the game, game won't adapt to what you want it to ....... what key assignments are at in the game is just what you are stuck with. Minor infraction I guess when you are having so much fun. The higher the skill levels you choose for your computer opponents will basically be that amount of free goodies they will receive while you work your butt off for everything that you need. I have seen them just standing around non-depleting mounds of stone for ages and they never seem to come up short on stone, but then after you stomp them it is still there for your bounty as with spoils of war ..... oh what a truely base Jurrasic world we live in, is nothing sacred? I guess not, when they are quick to stomp you back if ever they can do it.
But I will stick with it now that I have the mouse doing what the game cannot do, give me that needed "pause" when I need it, without having to run for the keyboard, ahhhhh!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Fun at a low price
I saw this product selling for $5 the other day, but it's as much fun as any $30 RTS. It combines smart AI for worker units to allow you to take your attention off resource gathering with stunning graphics. It is truly beautiful to watch, and awe-inspiring to play; prehistoric units are anatomically correct and everything moves realistically. With a campign mode that runs like an adventure movie and skirmish battles for those wanting to get into the action immediately, this is one of the best RTSs for the PC that I have ever played

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - AN EXCELLENT PREHISTORIC RTS!
The RTS genre has yet to be saturated. Nevertheless, it had been getting repetitive and stale lately. PARAWORLD was a breath of fresh air and it is a VERY FUN game to play!

You are thrown into a world where dinosaurs roam the land and different tribes wage war on each other for the control of resources (wood, rock and food). Each of the three tribes have distinctly units and buildings - and their own tamed dinosaurs. Mounted rhinos, war-mammoths, prehistoric...steam-warships, guarding water-snakes - the list of original ideas is endless!
What has to be mentioned is that playing each different faction does not convey the feeling that you are replaying the same over and over - only with different colors. One tribe has stronger buildings yet weaker units; the other has more dinosaurs yet its fortifications are easily overrun. On top of that, they are all beautifully balanced.

Graphically the game is very well made. Units look and move in a very realistic way, the environmental elements (grass, trees and water) have been nicely rendered - all in all, an impressively looking game.

I picked this for a song - but that is the fate of any game sporting an idiotic protection scheme. The are bin fodder before the year is out. PARAWORLD uses STARFORCE - hence the star withheld. A pity, such a great game to be shot in the foot by its own publisher.

If you are boycotting STARFORCE games be warned. Otherwise,

RECOMMENDED!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - ParaWorld
Good game overall. Nice RTS game with good graphics. Worst part is that you are limited in unit building so you need to be careful in building only a few workers and more military units. Would recommend b/c of its low price and good over quality.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Pretty Good Game
I purchased "Paraworld" while waiting for another of this company's games to be released ("1701 AD"). I have not really played "Paraworld" very much, particularly since I got 1701, but what I have seen is entertaining with good graphics. I love Sunflower games and have been hooked since "1602 AD." (The game, not the year. Despite what my children say, I am not that old.}
