Product Description:
If you like gaming action but don't have the time for the involved role-playing and shooter games that are so popular nowadays, the Namco Classics TV Plug-And-Play Controller is exactly what you need. All you have to do is hook it up to your TV. It's even designed to look like an old-school arcade controller!

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Not as fun as the originals....
First, let me say the $119.99 price tag on this item is TOTALLY outrageous and unbelievable. I purchased this same item about a year ago for $19.99. You can still find it for $19.99 in stores. I'm hoping Amazon's price is a typo.

As for the unit itself, it's very awkward and hard to use. Also, unless I just don't remember correctly, the games are not of the same quality as they were way back when. Additionally, more times than not, the games "freeze", causing you to have to start from scratch.

I downloaded some of these old games to my cellphone, and sadly, the quality is much better.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - needs major design improvements
Sure, Ms. Pac-Man is just as addictive as it was in the arcade 25 years ago and it's a blast to re-visit the exact same game. BUT unless you have incredibly flexible hands, the design of the actual game box is dreadful. There is no comfortable way to hold it (even if you're ambidextrous). It is not heavy enough to stay put on a table or flat surface on its own. Might Namco consider adding a handle to it, or some other way to keep it stable without cramping your hands? As others have rightly pointed out, the so-called "twist" joystick leaves a lot to be desired -- it simply doesn't respond the way a real joystick does. I've never been able to get beyond the second level because of it (on the arcade game I could play for hours). All of this adds up to a lot of frustration and a product that won't get used very often.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - The only vids I play anymore
I can see why the joystick was used as the method of control for this game - after all, it does help recapture the old-school arcade vibe. However, it also makes the awesome shooters, Xevious and Galaga (the latter my favorite game of all time!) awkward - I find Galaga is much easier to play in arcades, though that involves pumping all kinds of quarters in it. Still, these games rule. Even Mappy. Mappy's a tiny bit stupid, yes, but even that's addicting. Galaga rules, plain and simple. Everything a video game should be. I like it partially because it was made before video game companies focused on fancy graphics, hit-filled soundtracks and celebrity guest appearences - it was just gameplay they were concerned about, and that game has the gameplay DOWN. I can play it for hours, unlike some of today's big-budget games. And if I'm in the mood for a challenge, I can just sit down and play Xevious. It's a surprisingly difficult game, but it's a blast just the same. Pole Position is a good racer (with an unfortunate title, but what're you gonna do?) - I don't play it that often because I'm not a huge fan of racers, but I enjoy it whenever I do. And come on, who doesn't feel vindicated when they chase and eat those pesky ghosts in Mrs. Pac-Man? I sure do. This (along with the Sega Genesis classics package thing) is my game system of choice, and yes, I own a PS2. (Don't expect me to plunk down the dollars for a PS3, though - that ain't happening).

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Excellent Nostalgia piece, great to just pick up and go with!!!
This is an excellent gaming system containing five acrade classics, Ms. Pac Man, which plays as close to the arcade as you can get, Pole Position, which the Joystick turns as a stearing wheel, again close to acrade action, Mappy, where you are a mouse trying to get a cat on the loose in a museum (much like original mario brothers), Galaga-an updated space invaders type game with more difficult ships to hit, and finally Xevious, where you are commander of a ship blowing up attaching enemies over land and see (plays like Tiger Heli for nintendo, or other games like this). I use this on my old call room tv with mono av jacks available, works great, passes the time with family friendly games. These games are much better than some of the new expensive games. check this out, you will be pleasently surprised, and for around 6-12 dollars, good deal. Runs on 4 AA batteries, then plug and play.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Regain lost youth, forget the roll of quarters!
Considering that this game is only about $20, it is a great deal. We had so much fun remembering our times in the arcades that we brought this game out at a small party. The guests loved it so much we could barely drag them away.
Yes, it can stick a little, but a reset works well. And if you do wear it out, it is very cheap to replace.
You just need to remember what it is... a very cheap version of the old arcade games. It won't be like Nintendo or X-box!
If you treat it well, it will last.
Remember to turn off the power switch or it will eat your batteries. I use rechargeables in it even though it says not too and it seems to work fine.
The best feature is that it plugs into the front of most new TV's, so no pulling out the TV every time you want to plug or unplug it. No messing with the 3 million cords that most of us seem to have behind the TV nowadays!
And for those of us who are adults now most of the time, it can just be stored out of site in a drawer or coffee table when you want to look neat and tidy. And no game cartridges to lose or trip over.
How could you not just love it?
