Rating: - Spyro Hero's Tale
This game is a challenge for this older person to play. But, I get stuck on certain levels at times. Its fun to figure out the levels.
Rating: - Very fun - a bit child-like.
The fun factor is very high is this game. Easy to learn and play. Great for escaping reality into the happy land of Spyro. Not an award winner for originality. A bit child-like in nature but overall very enjoyable. This is what games should be. There's enough blood and violence and darkness in the real world.
Rating: - just mute the sound effects and have a back up file
The graphics are different to the rest of the series, and very good.
I had to mute the sound effects because moneybags wouldn't shut up, he repeats himself whenever you are on the same screen as he is, and he is practically everywhere. There is a glitch early in the game and one during an ice level. The first glitch will be noticed soon in the game and require a reset, the second caused me to get a 99%, so I had to play again to get 100% in the game. This was a big improvement of the last game in the series. Well worth playing. I was disappointed that Spyro no longer did the timed flying, but another character does that in this game.
This game has a few changes from the previous games, but is mostly the same, there are some bonuses rewarded for collecting items. This gives incentive to replay the game. Some side games and the end boss can be challenging, but overall it is good for the average player.
Rating: - Cool!
This game was bought for our 6 year old gamer in the family. Initially the first Spryo game we bought was for my hubby, but our 6 year old pretty much "confiscated" his privileges to play it once the controller was in her hands. She LOVES Spyro (so much so she wants her bedroom painted with Spyros all over the walls) and she has all the Spyro games for the NGC. Even though she doesn't grasp the concept of quests etc. entirely, and her reading skills are improving (not necessarily due to the game(s)), she enjoys blasting, head-butting and pouncing and making Spyro do all the fascinating things the controller will allow him to do. As far as the learning factor, it's a game; it can be mind numbing as well as a teaching tool. Apart from the simple act of enhancing a child's imagination, on the whole it is an outlet. She gets to play it on the weekends after all her homework is completed and chores are done, sort of like a reward. Since she loves it so much, and continues going back to it, and as I really don't mind the content (cute music and backgrounds, cute characters with personalities to match and not a terrible lot of violence - basically what can be expected of a game with a cute dragon and dragonfly, peppered with villains and quests to fulfill), I give it a pretty good rating.
Rating: - This game isn't that good
This game isn't that good. Gnasty Gnorc doesn't look like how he should(spyro 1 design), Red looks like and over grown color changed spyro(color changing cheats for spyro 2 and 3), Moneybags is still around with his own shop no less, the breathe power ups stink(what happened to the good old super flame power up?),you have to collect light gems to unlock power ups(seriously. The super charge power up had always be free in the first 3 spyro games), They don't have the original dragon elders that you had to rescue in Spyro 1, They changed the name headbash to horn dive(stupid name for the headbash),unlimited amount of gems which is stupid since the original three never had that making it worth while in those games to collect gems, gems had more detail and were shinyer, because of this stupid game most people nowadays have never even heard of the original spyro games.
