My sister bought this for my daughter when she was 4 and she loved it. A little help was needed at first because she had never used our computer, and the program (especially painting the different parts of words) took some getting acquainted with. After she warmed up to it and understood it, she did it all by herself for months. She knew her alphabet and sounds (and could read a few words) but not all her digraphs when she started, but it didn't take long for her to get the picture and she was independently reading in a short time. I passed this on to a struggling reader, so now I'm looking to buy it again for my son. They love the little characters and the silly story maker. It's nice to have a reprieve from each section after it's completed, so I appreciate the reward section. Well done!
Rating: - Engaging and useful software game
This program is cheerful and fun. My kids love it. The educational content is strong yet it still manages to hold children's interest. Good for children who need to reinforce simple phonics, like beginning sounds, ending sounds, long and short vowel sounds, etc. Inexpensive and very recommended!
Rating: - poor excuse for a phonics program
This program has nothing that could assist any child learn or review phonics. The so-called game reward is merely more work, and the work has no value ! If you are looking for a program that provides a learning experience, look elsewhere. If you think this will provide some sort of meaningful review of phonics, you will be quite disappointed. The producers of this program should hang their heads in shame!
