Product Description:
For legions of Metroid fans, Samus Aran is a true hero. Gamers old enough to remember the original Metroid will never forget their surprise when learning that the armored character they had been controlling for days on end was actually a woman! Of course, you were only let in on the secret if you were able to beat the game in less than three hours -- no easy task. The original Metroid premiered on the original NES in Au

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Incredible Game
Immersive environment, exiting gameplay, great graphics (for back then) and a story that will keep you interested thoughout the whole game. I can really say that this is one game that I can play over and over again, and still feel exited about it. Not a pro review nor in depth what so ever, but if you have heard good things about it, it is all true. Check out the video review by one of Gamespot's former Chief Editor, you will see what I mean.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Miserable for a casual gamer
The "save stations" ruin this game for those of us who like to play video games in our free time, rather than all of the time. You can only save your game at certain locations on the map, and it is not uncommon to go 30 - 60 minutes without reaching the next save point, OFTEN WITH BOSS BATTLES JUST BEFORE.

This ruins the battles, because who wants to risk dying just to have to repeat the same 30 minute hike to face the boss (and possibly die) again? Instead, you pause the game and read the walkthrough, eliminating any fun in figuring out how to beat the bosses yourself.

Even for hardcore gamers, this game leaves a lot to be desired. The combat is uninspired button mashing (the only challenge in the last few boss battles is not any sort of finesse, but rather keeping your thumb/the controller from breaking long enough to defeat the enemies). The "story" is presented only through hard-to-read-and-click-through blurbs you find on computer consoles and walls. And the backtracking -- oh, the backtracking!

Overall, I am hugely disappointed in this purchase for my Wii, and if this is the best the GameCube had to offer, I'm glad I never got one!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Whoever hates this game is evil!!
This is not "Homeschoolmom", this is her son! I think this is a great game! The graphics are awesome for the year it was made and the gameplay and controls are simple to master.
The only think I don't like about the game is the distance you have to travel to get where your going. It can be really frustrating!!
Other than that, this game is awesome and is one of my all-time favorite games!! I can't wait to get the other two Metroid games if this one is this good! Go Samus!!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Must Have for the Gamecube
Even though as i write the review Gamecube's are no long around. Metriod Prime is a must have for the system. Its graphics are good for its generation. Although i will say that there are points in the game when it could use a little speeding up but other than that the game is pretty good and worth taking a look at.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Perfection
I'll be honest, I absolutely hate 1st-person shooters for console systems, but Nintendo really got it right with this one.

There were no Metroid games for the N64, so the bar for this game was set by Super Metroid--one of the best games Nintendo has ever released. On top of that, this was the first attempt at a 3D version of a Metroid game. Naturally, I was worried that it would disappoint. It doesn't.

The controls are brilliant. By the time you get started, it'll take you all of 15 minutes to master the controls, which gives you the rest of the time to marvel at the stunning graphics, seductive soundtrack, and brilliant level design.

Words can't adequately describe the look and feel of this game. Turn off the lights, get comfortable, turn the game on, and you'll get sucked right in. The game designers have successfully created a world that you will feel totally immersed in. Just don't forget to eat food and take bathroom breaks.

Stop reading this review and buy it already. You won't be disappointed.
