Amazon.com Review: With its satisfyingly realistic gameplay firmly intact, this year's entry in 3DO's High Heat series cements its status as arguably the best video game baseball experience available. Graphically, it's better than ever, but what sets High Heat Major League Baseball 2003 apart from the competition is its attention to the little things that make it more believable and fun to play: hits that are random and rarely appear to fall in the same place twice; scores that accurately reflect the caliber of the opposing pitcher; razor-close plays on the base paths and at home plate--the list goes on. Add in wide-ranging, customizable player skill levels and game-tuning preferences (everything from batting and throwing power to error and injury frequency)--not to mention the year of fine-tuning under 3DO's belt after working out the kinks in last season's inaugural PS2 run--and it all adds up to a rewarding experience for baseball gaming purists.
That's not to say the game is perfect, as witnessed by graphics that could still use some work to fully exploit the PS2's capabilities. Especially lacking are the dugout and crowd animations that at times resemble lifeless gray masses. Certain stadium skylines also lack depth, particularly in night games (tall buildings behind the stadiums look a lot like their blocky counterparts from last year's version). But these are minor gripes when all is said and done. All the vitals are still there: season, playoff, and exhibition modes (no franchise mode yet, however); home run derby; batting practice; and, new this year, the two-on-two showdown that features a one-inning battle pitting pitcher against batter. And while the game's rosters are nowhere near what they'll be on opening day, the create and edit player features will ensure that everybody's favorite team can be as accurate as the real thing. --Larry White

Thsi game is great. Cover, options, players, graphics, Pretty much everything. It could be a little better, though. But you should definetly get this game. It is fun!
Rating: - Close to perfect
This game is very underrated from the reviews I have read. I would give it a perfect rating if not for the lack of off the field managing. The only problem I have with the entire game is the lack of injuries, no disabled list and you only get a 25 man roster (no triple A teams and a very small bench) The game play itself is tremendous, the scoring is realistic and the computer doesn't just score on homers, they will bunt runners over and score from 2nd on singles. You can also tinker with almost any aspect of the game such as how fast the pitches come in all the way to how fast the baserunners move. So in reality you can make the game as easy or as difficult as you choose. I feel this is very important because eventually in other games you always wind up killing the computer, but not here. However, like I said, the 25 man roster stinks and injuries are a joke. They rarely ever happen and when they do it is only for one or two games. I want a game where my guy can hurt his hamstring while running to 1st and miss 2 weeks, plus I can bring up a minor leaguer to replace him. I hear that High Heat has corrected this problem in 2004's version so be patient.

Like every baseball game this one has it's glitches, but I've played many baseball games in my time and this one by far is the best one yet. As close to real as it gets!

In my opinion this is the best baseball game out there right now. Great on-field action and a really deep season mode makes it better that Triple Play 2002 and MLB 2003. All and all I'd recommend this game for players who want to play right away and for those who really want a good simulation.

I was about to buy this game until I actually played it at the store. The graphics were worse in this then in MLB 99 for the PS1. The gameplay was however pretty good and realistic. But insted of wasting 50 bucks on this buy Triple Play 2002 its a 100 times better.
