Rating: - Total piece of garbage.....
For years I have heard about this product and always thought, "I bet that thing could work wonders for my old disks, and for the price, it's way cheaper than a replacement game..." Finally, I decided to give this thing a try. I used this product on two of my Xbox 360 games: March Madness '07 (which had a deep circular scratch on it causing it to freeze almost immediately upon boot up) and Madden '09 (which only had minor scratches, causing it to freeze occasionally). Now, before I went to "repair" the disks, I made sure to look over the directions completely, cause I wanted to make sure that I didn't screw things up (I paid $60 for Madden just a couple of months ago, remember).
I used the Game Dr. exactly as directed and afterwards, I noticed all of the shaving scratches that were left behind. I wasn't worried, because I knew that was one of the consequences of using the Game Dr. (plus minor scratches can't be too bad, right?). I put the games in my Xbox 360 and they didn't work at all! The Xbox 360 actually said they were unrecognizable, meaning they were worse than they were originally. I repeated the steps, as instructed if the discs still don't work, and guess what, the games STILL didn't work! I said, "What the heck, I'll try one more time, just for my amusement," and of course you know what the result was...two completely damaged disks!!!!!
Whatever you do, do not purchase this product! It is very likely that this will work occasionally because my neighbor has the same one, and he's been able to recover some of his games before, but I had absolutely no luck. I'll be sending my games into Skippy Disc in the next couple of days to have them professionally resurfaced for about $4 a piece because I dont need to have $60 paperweights just chilling around my house. I would contact the makers of this product and cuss them out for making such a BS product, but that would involve giving them more of my time and effort! Heed this warning and stay away from this product!!!!!!!
Rating: - nice! product that does the job
I bought this device back in '03 or '04 and I loved playing my favorite PS2 racing game back in that year, until one day it got scratched and was not working so I used the GAME DR. to fix it, load it back in my PS2 and worked great. Just saved myself $40.00 bucks for that game, and it worked on my other PS2 games, DVD's and CD's as well. Just remember to follow the step by step insructions on this item and you will be okay.
Peace I'm Out!
Rating: - Well worth it
I run a small mon and pop video store and as several people previously posted, a lot of people refuse to treat a dvd or aPS2 or X-box game with any care. This buffer is a lifesaver, making virtualy any mild to moderate damaged discs readable. However there are a few players out there who for some ungodly reason will not read a buffed disc. I love this and use it every day repeatedely
Rating: - works but ahhh
This game doctor is just a simple game polisher the liquid they give u is either water or brass polish because wen i used it on my final fantasy x it did work but it shaves a very thin layer off that means if you have big scratches dont buy this.
Rating: - A gamer's must
I used the non-electronic Game-dr. for a year and had to buy the electronic one. If your a gamer and want to resurface your old scatched cds I highly recommend it. Most of the pople who gave this bad reviews probably resurfaced it too much or didnt buy a new resurfacing disk. All my games and Cds that didnt work work excellent now.
