This was one of the first generation PS2 games on its release. Its a first-person RPG where you create rings of magic for different spells and buffs. If you're into games like Kings Field and Elder Scrolls, you will most likely enjoy this game. Its pretty straight forward and there are a ton of spells to create. Definately a great underrated game!
Rating: - Old School RPG with ps 2 polish (not enough)
I bought this game in a flurry of first person RPG passion... I was playing the first Kings Feild and I felt that I wanted more of the same. If you've ever seen the first kings field I think you'll agree... the graphics are laughable... yet somehow I find them haunting me... imagine if pablo picaso was a fantasy artist and you were trapped in a world with his cubist demons and textures that all look like squares of spackled barf. Why can't I stop playing this game!!!
Okay, now we come to THIS game... The graphics are very nice yet utilitarian. but the gameplay is the same (exept for the addition of the ring magic system and it's also somewhat easier) right down to the controlls...
WHY... WHY NO ANALOG STICK CONTROLL!!! WHY!
Rating: - pretty good
this game is pretty good the graphics are good as well. the only problems i have with the game is a long intro and if you step into shallow water ya die. between this game and any other game like it, kings field is better!

What can I say about this game... well, lets start with the facts. I bought it off the bargain shelf, figured it will be okay. So I put it in my PS2 and well, it starts. I watch the opening cinema like *hey this looks cool* so I go into this dungeon and I start to play. I am instantly in shock. First person? WHAT?! WHO THE HECK EVER HEARD OF A FIRST PERSON RPG? Okay, I'm getting ahead of myself, just cause it's first person doesn't mean its bad. So I'm walking through this cave and I think... hmm, the walls and rooms all look the same... there's no map... how do I know where I'm going? So after a few minutes of cycling through the same rooms (at least i THINK they were) I end up in the room with an enemy. Then I think "where is the health bar? And how do I use magic and stuff?" Oh well lets see what the sword can do. So I walk up to it and stab it. well, the sword is a little stick that simply seems to poke out of your chest. Yeah, its the only move in the game, bummer. And its impossible to see where the point of that sword is going! You can only tell if you hit an enemy if it gets a light red color. By the way, the enemies just stand in front of you, they dont seem to care if you stab em... so I stab it, it dies, and I'm thinking "that was lame." Now in this other room, I see a bunch of enemies. One bat comes up to me *now i cant stab it because the sword seems to stab only in front of me, not above OR below.* the bat bites me a few times and all im doing is pressing the sword button. I die. Then what happens? After 15 minutes of wandering uselessly around what looks like the same room, I have to start all over, and get lost in whatever this game thinks is "fun". Ill give it this: the cutscene graphics are good but that is truly not enough to save this piece of junk. If you buy this game, please prepare to make a sign on your wall with a target that says "BANG HEAD HERE"

I was not going to write a reviewbecause the reviews of some ofthe other reviewers were on target. This game was pretty well thoughtout. If you enjoyed the Kings fieldseries, then you would definitleyenjoy this game. The sealed Labyrinth toward the end of the game provides added thrill and challenge, as you seek to obtainthe AWESOME eternal sword, andspecial unique secret rings thatreally add blossoming effect toyour power and attribute. Thelimited imperfections are really not worth noting. I hope Amazonwill be selling "Kings field IV-The Ancient City" expected out forPlaystation 2 at the end of March. After reading a review of thissoon to become available title,There is much anticipation, especially after completing thisenjoyable eternal ring Quest.
