Editorial Review:

Manufacturer Description:
Welcome home, pardner! We have been waiting for you here in the town of Sanctuary. Take your boots off and sit a spell next to the campfire while I tell the story of James Anderson. Ex-Marshal Anderson lived a quiet life with his wife and daughter. One black day, a fancy-dressed, greed-driven land baron shattered his life. The baron's intent was to plow down Anderson's farm to make way for the railroad. Now Anderson is driven by revenge, which he will exact in a spray of gunfire.

Features:
* Combines first-person gunslinging action and Wild West adventure in one game
* Single- or multiplayer gameplay over modem, Internet, local area network, or serial connection
* Highly stylized characters with distinct personalities and weapons
* Original digital soundtrack and custom-designed sound effects
* 3-D sound emulation and hardware support to provide realistic sound environments
* Scalable difficulty for novices to advanced players
* Gameplay includes puzzles to tease the mind as well as the trigger finger

Amazon.com Review:
Hey pardner, you lookin' for something more from your 3-D first-person shooters than mindless action and unrelated levels that serve more as technological showcases than as settings for a coherent story? Maybe it's time you cinched your gun belt, strapped on your spurs, and entered the atmospheric world of Outlaws, a genuine classic of a game that thrusts players into a Wild West adventure with a spaghetti Western plot. You're a retired marshal recently coaxed out of retirement by the sinister, mustachioed bad guys that killed your wife, burned your farm, shot your dog, and stole your Bible.

Outlaws has a lot to offer fans of single-player action, but the graphics are strictly love 'em or leave 'em. The cutscenes used to advance the plot are rendered in gritty comic-book fashion, and that design theme extends to the actual gameplay. Everything from the enemies you fight to the guns you carry have the look of a graphic novel, and that might not appeal to gamers used to being thrust into game worlds that display everything in full 3-D. Here the environments are 3-D, but all the characters and objects are reminiscent of cardboard cutouts.

We appreciated this design decision, as it drew us further into the game's plot and made transitions from the movies to the interactive portions more seamless. Even now, several years after its release, Outlaws still inspires cries of "yeehaw!" every time we load it up. --T. Byrl Baker

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - CLASSIC!!!!!!!
Hey George Lucas any day now. Get off your duff and make the sequel to the best game ever created by LucasArts. Enough is enough. No more Star Wars games.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - One of the Greatest Games of All Time!!!!!!!!!!
My friend and I played this game when it originally came out and we were blown away by the brilliant story, amazing cutsecenes, and tremedous gameplay. I was at my friends house and we found it in his garage. We had't played this game in around 8 years! We popped it into his computer and we brought back to the good old days when graphics weren't the only important thing about games. This is the best western video game. I hope you enjoy it as much as my friend and I did.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Class by itself.
No other western even comes close to this game. If you like to see the bad guys get whats comin to em then this is for you. It's definitely a keeper.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Old School - But still quite entertaining
The cell-shaded (cartoon-style) graphics are comical and fun. The fun gameplay and integrated cut scenes along with the sound and the music make this game a classic. You will be forever hearing taunts like "Where ARE you marshall!" rolling around in your head after you play through this game.

The Intelligence of the computer opponents is rather weak - and the game physics can be less than accurate, but the game is still lots of fun to play. For $10 or so you can have a great time with this LucasArts game - I recommend it if you have some time to kill - or have a lower-end machine that can't run some of today's graphic's intensive games.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - CHEESY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rotten graphics and gameplay. Do not waste your time! I was dissapointed!!
