Amazon.com Review: The ClueFinders series of educational games takes children through several years of development, so they can learn as they get older following the adventures of familiar characters. ClueFinders 3rd Grade Adventures is aimed at the youngest age group, and is suitable for children aged 7 to 9 years.
The game scenario is easy to follow. Dr. Pythagoras, the uncle of one of the ClueFinders, has disappeared from the rain forest. Animals are going missing, too. The young adventurers need to find the keys to an ancient city to work out what is going on, and to free Dr. Pythagoras. The keys are hidden in puzzles in two corners of the rain forest.
As our adventurers progress through the rain forest, they encounter these puzzles and more, which they must solve if they are to be successful. ClueFinders 3rd Grade Adventures teaches skills in math, logic, language arts, science, and geography, though it firmly wraps its educational content in these puzzles so you hardly notice that you are learning while you play.
There are four difficulty levels, and a document for parents explains how each of the puzzles works at each difficulty level. As an added bonus, a second CD, the Adventure Kit, provides a range of additional software, including a kit for setting up your own friends' adventuring club. --Sandra Vogel

My first and third graders both love this game and play it all the time. I personally haven`t played it, so I can not tell you that much about it. I use this game as part of our homeschool.

You can call me StoryMaker cuz' that's my internet nickname. Well, first of all, I am a beginning 3rd grader. I'm more like a 2nd grader. (Actually, with math the math in 1st grade games is the right math for me on level 3.) Second, I only went to the Goo Lagoon and not the Monkey Kingdom. Third, I will talk about the product instead of just how much experimence I had with it. The adventure is supposed to encourage kids, but it dosen't encourage me. I think, "WHAT?!? I'm helping the ClueFinders? Russian Blue Witch is the ClueFinders fan!" Oh, and, that RBW is my sister. Oh, and, if you don't know who the ClueFinders are, that yellow guy who floats is Laptrap and if you click on him, you should press the ClueFinders Club button to find out about the ClueFinders gang! Oh, and, the plot: Joni (the leader of the ClueFinders) has a missing uncle. They think a green monster that looks sorta like a dragon named Mathra took him! The numarians (the people who lived long ago) trapped him and cut the key in two, but he escaped! They meet Laptrap and he has a map to find the two key peices witch are on the Goo Lagoon and the Monkey Kingdom. And, I watched RBW play it and I know the end but I have not got to it. You can get to the Monkey Kingdom when you're in the Goo Lagoon! Click Laptrap, click the map button, select the cliff you start at! I didn't go to the kingdom because I wanted to finish the lagoon first. The sign-in screen is a scroll and is funny! You sign your name. It says things like "I will talk to spiders twice my size." I think it is funny. The logic is too easy and the math is in the Monkey Kingdom and I didn't try it yet but it looks hard when I saw RBW do it but I will try the math soon. When you press the Alt and PrntScrn keys to screenshot it, when you patse it in the Paint program you get the cursor OK, but the rest is black, but most kids don't care. Last week my son announced that he "hated" math. This week, his school sent this software home for summer use. My son's last words as I put him to bed tonight were "Can I play Cluefinders as soon as I get up in the morning?" AND he thinks the math section is the greatest! We've tried a variety of educational software over the past 4-5 years and I can't remember any that my sons have enjoyed more!! This is a keeper. I would highly recommend it!!!

My children all enjoyed this game. The puzzles are well designed and have a wide skill range and a wide variety. There are 22 different puzzles which cover a wide subject range. The only fault I could find was the fact that when you completed a puzzle you had to move to the next screen and then back again to be able to play it again, especially as you need to complete each puzzle two or three times. The other fault was that when you completed a game unless you started a new game immediately you would find the levels were set back at easy. It is an excellent game which the children enjoy, the highest levels are hard enough for an adult to enjoy, while younger children can cope well with the easy levels. Children do need to be able to read reasonably well to play.

Our daughter's school recommended this program for children entering 3rd grade. My child and I spent all summer working on this together. It was great quality time for her and me. More importantly, it was something she looked forward to doing (which is a tall order for an 8-year old on summer vacation). It focused on sharpening thinking and problem solving skills. I was pleased with the simplicity of the graphics as it kept the computer speeding along and time was not wasted loading glitz and glitter. I can't recommend this enough to parents concerned with their child's education.
