I had this when it first came out.My brother sister and I went through a nintendo stage.Which slowly faded into a computer game stage,so naturally the nintendo was kept in our basement for the next 10 years believe it or not.Until one day I was talking with my friends from highschool and thought it would be fun to pull it out again. So we tried to hook it up on the newer tv in the computer room. And at first we couldnt get it to work. Then we took it into the living room and got it to work on the older tv.I was thrilled!Months later my friend was able to hook it up on the newer tv in the computer room for my bday party.Let me tell you that was the best bday present I got that year, just playing the classic games like duck hunt and little mermaid. We had a blast and it still worked great!

Rating: - NES Game System
For being so old, this system works GREAT! We love to play the old games from our childhood. The only thing I might say to contrast that is that the games fit into my system so tightly that they are sometimes hard to get out... but it is a minor problem.

I had the NES years ago when I was in school, but when I got the SNES, I gave away my NES, which years later I would regret doing so. I bought the NES and rcvd it today, and after hooking it up, I played some of the old games, and it sure brought back so many good memories. The NES is so simple to use as it is to set up. I love the simplicity of the controls! The game and game consoles out on the market today are so complicated (for me anyway) that makes me appreciate this system so much more. This time I won't make the mistake of giving it away!

In the days of new franchises dominating the market, (especially "Halo" at it's fame right now) the Nintendo Entertainment System (or NES) had a supreme domination of games during the Third-generation, and is still fun to play.
What popularized the NES? Well, after the Second-generation of systems (eg. Atari 2600, ColecoVision, etc.) a flood of bad games entered the market. Most likely, E.T. the Extra Terrestrial... oh man, even saying the title isn't worth it! It is the PRIME reason why Atari didn't make a good hold in the Third-generation. After this incident; known as "The Video-game Crash of 1983"; all games were Commodore 64 or Arcade games. However, Nintendo took hold by releasing the console that launched the re-birth of home-game consoles; the NES; after the success of Donkey Kong in Arcade markets.
To rival it's success, Sega released the Sega Master System. However, Nintendo dominated with it's extremely broad library of games like Super Mario Bros. 1-3, The Legend of Zelda, Mega Man, Dragon Warrior, Contra, Metroid, Castlevania, and Double Dragon. However, Double Dragon was ported to a wide array of game consoles, even the Sega Master System had it's own version.
However, at the end of the NES lifespan, all good things come to an end... with a better comeback! Nintendo re-entered the Fourth-generation with the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (or SNES); to rival with Sega's already released 16-bit console, the Sega Genesis. However, Nintendo still dominated while Sega pumped out awful attatchments like the Sega CD and Sega 32X; focusing on hardware rather then software.
The NES was often hacked; and many unlicensed games were developed and relaesed like Wisdom tree's Bible Adventures or bible Buffet. Which actually, though poorly developed, are pretty nifty even if you could find them considering how RARE those games are. Stay away from awful games like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Karate Kid, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Friday the 13th, Silver Surfer, and Bugs Bunny's Birthday Blowout! Oh boy, was it a blowout alright!
So all in all, buy this console; it's still fun to play... even today!
