Amazon.com Review: Trying to get Donkey Kong Country onto Game Boy must have been something like trying to force a gorilla into a banana suit. Yes, it must have been quite a hairy experience for the folks at Rare; but, somehow, some way, they pulled it off.
The Game Boy version of DKC isn't as colorful as the Super Nintendo version, and the sound quality takes a big hit, but the fun of the original action title remains.
Players will spend hours bouncing and swinging through levels, and looking for bananas and hidden minigames that can be opened up by pounding the ground and throwing TNT into walls. There's also a bit of fast-paced mine-car riding, and players can switch between Donkey and the scrawnier Diddy when they lumber through levels.
One problem with the translation is quirky hit detection. In other words, players might think that they jumped on an enemy's head properly, but end up dying anyway. This is a small price to pay for so much Nintendo goodness in a portable package. --Robb Guido
Pros:
Near-perfect replica of the original Super Nintendo classic
Two bonus minigames--new to this version
Cons:
Lesser-quality graphics and sound, compared to Super Nintendo version

I love playing it. It's great fun for hours of entertainment.

If you like Donkey Kong Country, play this version for the Game Boy Color.
it's GREAT! almost exactly alike, plus 2 new bonus games, AND candy kongs's "save points" from the SNES game are turned into mini games, you don't have to save, it does that by itself!!
overall, if you loved the origanal DKC, but this, it's a step up, but with worse graphics, and sound quality, but hey, what do you ecpect from the game boy color? TV sound quality, NO!
Rating: - Worst Interpretation EVER
I owned this game when i got a game boy advance and I can tell you: IT SUCKED!!!
Graphics 0/10- Terrible Graphics. Even an arcade game would have better graphics. other GBC Games would have better graphics. I am disgusted.
Music 0/10- They screwed up the music and put other stuff in the game.
Game Play -5/1000- harder and less fun.
Overall -5,000,000/10- Stay away from it.

This game is indeed a classic, and i must say i loved the SNES version. However, the lighting isn't as good, but i guess you can find that with any game boy color. Overall this is a very good game!!!!!!!!

This is a truely great game for GBA and Snes....however it is a near exact replica to the Snes version sound and all. My main problems w/ the game are the graphics...it looks like a child drew this. Donkey Kong is so hard with his jump moves too....
