Feature: Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure is a video game released in 1994 for the Super NES and Sega Mega-CD by Activision. It was ported to the Sega Genesis (1995), Sega 32X (1995), the Atari Jaguar (1995), PC (1995), and the Game Boy Advance (2001), with the last one published by Majesco. Pitfall: TMA was also the first commercial game released for Windows 95. In this game, the player takes the role of Pitfall Harry Jr., son of the hero of the original game, who has to find his kidnapped father. An extra feature in all versions is the ability to play the original Pitfall! (the Atari 2600 version) after finding a secret doorway. The doorway can be found by looking for something that seems out of place. The Mega-CD, 32X and Windows ports contained extra (and expanded) levels and other enhancements over the earlier versions. The Windows port was based on the Mega-CD version, and made using Kinesoft's Exodus game technology, which was later used to make the Windows port of Earthworm Jim: Special Edition.

Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - okay game, but addition of original 2600 Pitfall is great!
The main game is pretty good. Good graphics, good sound, and challenging action (including some huge bosses). You can also play the original Atari 2600 version of Pitfall on this cartridge! Sadly the 2600 Pitfall is absent from the Game Boy Advance version. If you want Pitfall : The Mayan Adventures, and if you want one with 2600 Pitfall hidden in the game, then get the Genesis, Super NES, or Atari Jaguar versions.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Nice remake of an old classic
OK, first off, the graphics are a lot better than the Atari 2600 version :).

If you're a fan of platform games, this is worth a look. The graphics are very good for 16-bit and the action is pretty consistent. You control a young Indiana Jones wanna-be who goes dashing through the swamps and jungles in search of lost Mayan treasure. Along the way you need to avoid snakes, crocodiles, and other such nasties. Jump pits, climb ropes, use your whip or your slingshot to fend off your enemies. Pretty fun game.
