Editorial Review:
Curious about those individuals who drive tricked-out Japanese cars? You know, the lowered Hondas with tires so wide they extend beyond the fenders, the souped-up Toyotas with super-sized exhaust pipes, and the custom-painted Nissans with tinted windows and back windshields adorned with a adjectives such as "wicked"?

Wonder no more. Tokyo Xtreme Racer delves into the world of highway racing featuring customized Japanese autos. The basic premise: cruise the Tokyo highway until you find someone who looks a bit too cocky, flash your lights to signal your racing intentions, and commence speeding. The racing physics in the game aren't perfect and the graphics may not bowl you over, but TXR is a lot of fun and it can be a very deep game for dedicated players.

There are hundreds of prospective opponents, and plenty of ways to upgrade your car, but the one element that will no doubt turn off American racing gamers is that there's only one track for the entire game. If you can handle that, and the lack of any apparent damage from collisions, then TXR is good fun. --Jeff Young

What a boring racing game, wow I was expecting more, if you want a good racing game go for Test Drive 6.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Possible the the most greatest racing ever...
Tough, i only tryed the PS2 version, but i can imagine that the DC and PS2 is just the same game. Tough, the graphics is not of Gran Turismo 3 value, this game rocks! It has a original game concept (something we havent seen in a racing game for a long time). The game is based upon the street racers of Tokyo, and how they race. You run around in the highways of Tokyo, using your lights to signal the desired opponoment you wish to race against, and if that opponoment accepts, its pedal-to-the-medal baby. Not only are capable to tune the engine and power of the veichle, but also to tune the looks of it with side skirts, wings and new tyres. Trust me... TXR is one of kind... It's both fun, addicting and entertaining. But, dont rely on the multiplayer tough, cause that part is really lame. Also the music could have been ten times better.

TXR is a superb buy you'll never run bored by...

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Toyko Extreme "sucker"
When you first play this game all you do is "race", no special effects! The worst part is that the tires look like if you were stuck in mud. Not That smooth, In a way, this game is the worst dreamcast title yet, the graphics and environment are pretty good, but whats the use in there are no " special effects".
Sure , the price is [inexpensive] for [money]. This game is awful!
