Rating: - Worst nintendo 64 sports game.
One thing this game is constantly harped for, and with good reason, is the terrible frame rate. The game is so choppy it is barely playable, playing games at such a terribly slow pace makes for miserable gaming. The only way to improve the frame rate is a lower the detail level to the point where your players look like something out of a super NES game. I must inform you that any improvement to the frame rate even after this is very marginal at the most. Secondly, the passing game is awful, some of this is due again to the horrible frame rate, but mostly due to the destestable "catch button", requiring you to press left-c at the exact moment the ball lands in the receviers hands. If you fail to press the button, or do not press it at exactly the precise moment, the recevier will drop the ball regardless of how well the ball is thrown. The running game is difficult as well, running up the middle is impossible, and since you can't pass, running to the outside is the only way to get anywhere. Defense is too easy, just move a defensive tackle in front of the center, wait till the ball is snapped, then press B as soon as the ball is snapped, and you will hurdle OVER THE CENTER and right on top of the quarterback. You can rack up about twenty sacks or more per game if you do this. Now all you have to do is score... Don't buy this game for any price, it's a total waste. Buy any madden game instead.

This game is not very good because when you pass the ball, your opponent knocks the ball away from your hands.
When one of my recievers actually catches the ball in the endzone, the reciever bumps one of the defenders and the defender pushes my reciever out of the endzone! the ref called it incomplete. I checked the instant replay many times, and the reciever had position of the ball and started to run more than 5 yards! Those are the reasons I don't like this game.

When I play this game, I can tell you five words- DO NOT BUY THIS GAME! This was officially the worst sports game ever! First of all, HOW DO YOU DO ANYTHING! The controls are equivialent to rocket science, and it's impossible to throw to the right person, catch, or call a play. Don't be fooled by all the features. You can't do anything with them, or use them. This has terrible animation, and framerate. This is THE WORST SPORTS GAME EVER MADE. Buy blitz instead.

NFL2000 is much more than just a video game. It actually puts you in contol of the team you select. It also has great grafics that make it look better than ever. For that price I think you should buy two! Take it from me. I think that this would be an excellent present for any age

I definitely recommend that you purchase the expansion pak before playing. This takes care of any "slow-motion" play, and with the number of games coming out that recommend it, I would advise that you get it anyway. As far as game play, I really enjoyed it. Yes, it takes some time to figure out the "catching" timing, but in the end, it is a really cool feature. I recommend that you spend some time in the practice mode without any defense. Also, I read a comment regarding that players "juke" on their own. I had total control over the runner, so perhaps he was playing in a different mode or something. Overall, I thought it was a great game. It does take a little time to learn, but that's what kept it interesting for me.
