Rating: - AMAZING
This is one of my favorite games of all time. While it is true that the graphics do not equal chrono cross or the FF series, I find that part of the charm. Better were the days when emphasis was placed on a great story and endearing characters rather than upgraded graphics. I may be a dork, but I actually like the soundtrack and have the song from the opening scene memorized. This is one of a handful of games (including the Arc the Lad Collection and Lunar 2: Eternal Blue) that I feel truly deserves to be called a collector's edition.
Rating: - Supernintendo Graphics made up for by story and cut scenes
Lunar is my favorite RPG game of all time! What it lacks in battle graphics it makes up for in story line as well as cut scene animation. Lunar provides players with a fulfill storyline and several plat twists. This is one of the few RPG's that will truly make you care about all the characters in your party, not just Alex (the hero). Very few RPG's take the time to develop all characters and maintain an intriguing storyline. The animation for cut scenes will have you watching again and again. This is not your average boy saves girl RPG!
Rating: - Possibly the best game I've ever played
Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete has to be the best game I've ever played. It has amazing gameplay, breath-taking music, memorable characters and a mighty fine presentation to wrap it all up. Lunar: Silver Star Story is the story of young Alex, a boy from a small village called Burg who looks up to a world-saving hero, Dragonmaster Dyne. One day, his friend Ramus suggests that they go to the "White Dragon's Cave" to find and claim a legendary Dragon Diamond, and Alex and his friends are swept into a fantastic adventure.
Each minute of this game is interesting. While playing, I laughed, I smiled, I frowned, I cried, I screamed. I felt every emotion possible during the 40 hours I spent first playing the game, and the second playthrough was no different. Very different from classical roleplaying games, yet so much better.
Lunar is a must-have for all RPG fans.
Rating: - A lost classic
*Please note I am reviewing Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete, they are basically the same games, but just with a few new additions. Thank you*
Rating: - This game is a labor of love!
This game has what I fear RPGs are losing: a true sense of adventure. A true adventure not only changes the world in the game but the characters themselves (one of the greatest examples being Final Fantasy VI). Some games have tried to portray love in a passionate sense, but they really fail to grasp the way people are drawn together and instead the love seems rushed. But not with this game! This game really brings home the point of how powerful a love for someone can be without being too over-dramatic. The charaters are great. They all are more charming and fun than the average RPG. In conclusion if you love RPGs that offer more than just great graphics and complicated features than I really really recommend this to you. Out of the many RPGs I've played including all of the Final Fantasy games, this one is definitely one of my top three, with only Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VII being higher. Old-School gamers or gamers who love a good plot should definitely check this out!
