Quarterback Attack

Reviewed by Dyson Turner Upon first look Quarterback attack may look like one of the coolest games ever. I mean you are in the helmet of a real pro quarterback you call plays you through passes, you do runs. The graphics are great it has FMV's just like Prize Fighter and Slam City I mean what more can you ask for? A lot more is the answer. Visuals 10/10 Absolutely perfect and wonderful efforts by Digital Pictures to re create the Quarterback atmosphere. I know first hand since I played Quarterback on my High School football team and this is as real as it gets. The only thing missing is the stink breath of a lineman after the sack, the smell of hot dogs cooking, and the coach screaming at you after an interception. Graphically this game wins the Super Bowl as the most realistic looking football game to date. The players are large the field looks perfect everything is just great. Sound 8. 0/10 The sound scores big as well not as much as the graphics but you do hear authentic football sounds. The roar of the fans, the sound of you calling the katans before each play, the realism of the lineman's grunting in front of you. All of this and more enhance the graphics somewhat and add to the realistic quarterback experience. The sound department in general was truly great, and I couldn't ask for more in either department. Game Play 1. 5/10 This game is for 1 player only. This is where the game takes a huge hit that may have it on career injury game shelf. Well what's wrong with the game? The question is what's right with the game besides the graphics absolutely nothing. Once you are amazed for about 10 minutes over how realistic this looks you will soon find out what's wrong with this game. Let me tell you what you don't have, no 2 player mode which has been in every football game In the history of video games. You can't play defense or special teams. You only control the quarterback so after you throw the ball there isn't anything else to do that's right no wide out, no running back no Tight End no nothing! There is no NFL license no NFLPA license so no recognizable faces number names anything. You are always the same team and so is the defense. The controls are on the bad size as well, there just about as bad as Prize Fighter and Slam City, the same problem of going left instead of right is still here, this is especially difficult in a football game because you might run right into a defender or interception. The difficulty is adjustable and their isn't save or password feature. Overall 5 out of 10 The fun factor and replay value takes a major hit. After seeing the same video over and over it gets boring, after beating the same team over and over its gets boring. There is no season or 2 player so there isn't any reason to keep playing. This game just isn't much fun after the newness wears off you might look at it a couple more times after a while but quickly you will put it away again. If all you care about is being a quarterback and no defense and special teams isn't a thing to you than this game and you are a perfect match. If your like the rest of the world and you care about NFL Teams Defense NFL Players, playing as other players on the teams and the quarterback doesn't matter then go hunt for a more realistic sim.
